At this stage why is it such a big issue?

If people who are vaccinated are still comfortable wearing the mask they will. While those who aren't don't need to.

Personally I plan to keep wearing mine while outdoors.

This pandemic made me realise how fukking nasty people are.

I mean science on its best day is several high observed and tested guesses.

We know vaccinations among a majority of a population keeps viruses under control. We don’t know what happens when it’s a fair amount and the rest of the world is no where close.

They want to give people hope but it’s been apparent for a while to me that mask in some capacity need to be in place until 2024.

Here's my thinking as odd as it seems.

I dont think this affects behaviour at all beyond encouraging normal people who were on the fence to get the vaccine.

If they aren't fans of masks, they will see vaccinated people being allowed to move around freely and that may convince them to get jabbed.

Anti vaxxers and anti maskers were always going to defy what has been laid out. So that leaves sceptics who aren't necessarily in those categories. I would expect a good amount of those people to get vaccinated as it represents a return to normalcy now.

Then you have people like me who absolutely love the mask and that's our choice to keep wearing them.

All in all I see the benefit.

This right here is why mask mandates are being rolled back. 61% over 18 with at least one dose (which provides a lot of protection). I’m sure if you drill down to NYers 65+ (the segment of the population most represented in hospitalizations and deaths) with at least one shot, that number is closer to 85%. Moreover, follow through rates are pretty high, over 92-93%.

Vaccination rates are still north of 2MM a day nationwide and with expanded access for 12+ we’ll see more of the nation getting inoculated.

Unless there’s some sort of viral break through then there won’t be any more “waves”. Herd immunity is building. The variants are also being covered well with the shots on the market.

All that talk of impending doom is blown out of the water.

The data are out and one can see Covid is moving into the rear view mirror. All this talk of vaccine passports and the like are just not needed. Lower bounds of herd immunity is being approached in some states.

US Coronavirus vaccine tracker.

36% of the county is fully vaccinated, 47% have one shot.

I cant tell if you're trolling or looking at any positive headline to act like this over.
