Unless I am missing something, there was a study last week that stated the mRNA vaccines could fight off the COVID19 for years
Pfizer and Moderna Vaccines Likely to Produce Lasting Immunity, Study Finds
The key caveat was in the second paragraph
The findings add to growing evidence that most people immunized with the mRNA vaccines may not need boosters, so long as the virus and its variants do not evolve much beyond their current forms — which is not guaranteed
I personally expected memory b cells to recognize the spike protein years/decades down the line even when antibodies dwindle down. However, as stated, if the spike protein mutates too much and achieves a protien fold that prevents it from binding to the original generated antibodies, then you're gonna need a booster with a modified mRNA sequence to bind with the newly mutated spike protein.
So does Pfizer have a financial interest in selling booster shots? Yes they absolutely do, but at the same time they are selling a product that is actually needed.
