Why should I have to wear a mask if I’m vaccinated and I have a very low risk of getting sick or dying?

I followed every single protocol since this thing started. The unvaccinated morons were the ones ignoring the protocols and now they refuse to get vaccinated. I don’t think I should wear a mask to protect them.

Thats the same logic used by antimaskers the first go round and look where we are :gucci:

I don’t see how the wearing masks by the vaccinated is going to prevent mutations when you have a good 30%-40% of the population which refuses to get vaccinated.
You're not preventing mutations, your preventing the spread of those mutations because you can still be a carrier of the virus. Vaccinated people are the new asymptomatic carriers from when all of this first started. Imagine all of the people who didn't feel the need to wear a mask, be socially distanced, etc. because they felt fine. That's what is currently happening with vaccinated people who are coming in contact with unvaccinated people.

Except that my my reasoning is based on demonstrable evidence.

Hey man, the virus will spread until we get to herd immunity regardless if vaccinated people wear masks or not. We should be encouraging unvaccinated morons to get vaccinated not shaming responsible people who followed all the protocols including getting the vaccine.

But if y’all want to keep living like it’s 2020, go right ahead.[/QUOTE]

Asking a vaccinated person to wear a mask is "shaming" them? :dwillhuh:

That's all true but at this point I'm having a hard time getting mad at people for not following guidelines. Government response and subsequent media messaging has really been discouraging.

@mastermind has for months been talking about the effects of upholding vaccine IP and now we're living through it. I was more optimistic than him hoping that once we had a surplus of vaccines we would flood the rest of the world with vaccines even without TRIPS waiver, just from geopolitical standpoint, but it's clearly not happening.

We're in the middle of dealing with Delta, a variant that originated in India, but everyone is pretending that getting another 5-10% of US population vaccinated will solve all our problems. Pick the worst of the worst in the US (Missouri, Alabama) and I'm sure they're more vaccinated than half of the countries in the world.

I agree, instead of haggling on sharing and supplying we should be suspending the patents allowing other countries to produce their own.

The choice is yours, but just know you’re a carrier for the virus. I’m always double masked. up. There’s breakthrough infections so you should at least be aware of what’s going on.

Bill Gates said:
There are only so many vaccine factories in the world, and people are very serious about the safety of vaccines," he said. "The thing that's holding things back in this case isn't intellectual property. It's not like there's some idle vaccine factory with regulatory approval that makes magically safe vaccines. You've gotta do the trials on these things. And every manufacturing process has to be looked at in a very careful way."

That chode is a miserable racist and is a big reason why the world won't be vaccinated.

Been digging into the CDC, Hopkins and NYT data to try reconcile some of the new guidance that has been put out. Some cliffs/my musings

1. As of yesterday 603K deaths in the USA. 92% of all deaths were in folks 55+ yrs. For under 35, less than 1%.

2. Today, 80% of all adults 65+ are fully vaccinated. 90% with at least 1 shot.

3. Although the delta variant is more transmissible, there are no indications that it is more fatal/lethal i.e. it’ll spread faster, but at the time there is no indication it kills at a higher rate.

4. The US has a rolling 7 day vaccination rate of 615K doses administered a day.

5. The current delta variant actually came from India.

6. Jan 8th, at the peak of the pandemic (in terms of cases), those 50+ accounted for 78% of all hospitalizations.

With the data presented I don’t know if some of the measures being promoted are necessary.

The healthcare system, on aggregate, will not get overrun as the most vulnerable are protected.

Children under 12 can’t get vaxxed so no point adding them to the equation when calculating who’s been vaxxed (as of now).
As it stands, 58% of the country 12+ is fully vaxxed, 67% with one shot. At a 95% follow up rate on the 2 dose schedule, that 58% will turn to about 67% fully vaxxed in about a month.

Even at 100% vaccination in the US, this virus is global so there’s actually more chance that any further mutation will come from overseas.
