I don't want to start a debate, but I honestly don't know what there is to not believe.
We got a shytty virus that we didn't have 2 years ago. It's killed a lot of people and is causing tremendous strain on the healthcare system as well as the economy. You aren't likely to die from it if you get it, but it's setting the bar pretty low to only care if it kills you or not. It can still be very awful if you get it. And even if you get it and have little to no symptoms, you can pass it on to our more vulnerable citizens. There's a very safe (and free) way to tremendously lower the risk of having any serious complications, getting hospitalized, or dying from it. If people don't want to get vaccinated then they'd be crazy to not wear masks and stay inside as Delta is burning through. And they shouldn't be surprised if they get sick. People that aren't vaccinated and ending up in hospitals are begging for the vaccine when it's too late.
I feel like the main contention is from people that seem to think the vaccine doesn't work because you *can* get infected while being vaccinated. But vaccines are a never a guarantee you won't get sick.

I don't understand how the some people aren't able to connect the dots. This shyt is literally 1 + 1 = 2.
It doesn't get much simpler than this. I also am willing to bet damn near anything that whichever state has the most vaccinations is in the top 5 states as far as their ICU bed availability.
Maine is in the top 5 of fully-vaccinated states but their occupancy rate is high. I realized lots of hospitals have been taking patients who live out of state too.

Thanks for the info. Das and rep. I also am realizing that I didn't at all take into account that different states also may have drastically different numbers of ICU beds. My state is about middle of the road as far as vaccination rates go, but we have a ton of hospitals and ICU beds in this state.
