Yep. And social media like @MushroomX said. My best friend's sister-in-law is a higher up at Pfizer and she said she thinks if social media didn't exist that we'd be close to fully vaccinated way before now, and that this whole thing would either be behind us or not a big deal at this point.
I think it might be a little better but even without social media you have the right wing echo chamber pumping out bs no stop and the crazies getting screen time showing out at city/county public meetings.

True, but consider this @BillBanneker.

If you have a City Council meeting, you would have a small number, lets say 20. With Facebook, you have bots and other people to connect with. There is free range for talking and saying, "Barack Hussein Obama IS A MUSLIM TERRORIST!" and then all of a sudden your getting there thumbs up, hearts, and positive re-reinforcement for your views being heard and confirmed as "True".

So with that mindset, imagine now, in their shoes, being so connect to it like a drug that when people like us tell them about the vaccine, they get upset and go to their facebook, "My brother-in-law is part of the SWAMP. I told my sister to divorce him and take the kids, because if he puts the vaccines in their bodies it will change their DNA and sell them to the Pedophile Ring!"

Heats, Thumbs Up, Sad, Angry Faces...

Twitter as well, but the social media platform enables their bad behavior, but also provides that positive re-enforcement that they are right. It's simple in nature, but with pride, people get angry when they are told they are incorrect against their dogma. It's their personal religion, like being told, "God doesn't exist. Your crazy."

Not giving them an excuse, but just a mindset of how entrenched these people are and why it's so hard for outsiders to convinced them to stop.

After recording one of the world’s lowest Covid rates last year, Cuba now has one of the western hemisphere’s highest. The island, which reported 12,225 confirmed cases in all of 2020, has reported almost 50 times that so far this year. And with the Delta variant having taken root, a lack of medical supplies is crippling the medical response.

“There are no antibiotics, no painkillers, the basic list of medicines is almost all out of stock,” said Daniela, a family doctor in Havana who has hardly had a day off since the pandemic began.

In the face of extreme scarcity, doctors are increasingly prescribing herbal remedies. Mortuaries are overwhelmed. The country’s main oxygen factory recently broke down, compounding the intensive care crisis.

The spike, unimaginable last year, comes as Cuban scientists race to achieve immunity through vaccination. Cuba is the smallest country in the world to have developed its own Covid vaccines. Both Soberana 2 and Abdala have an efficacy rate of over 90%, according to clinical trials.

But US sanctions – supercharged by Trump, left in place by Biden – have slowed rollout.

Since the outgoing Trump administration designated Cuba as a “state sponsor of terrorism”, firms have taken fright and just a handful of banks in the world will now transfer funds from Cuban entities, complicating imports.

Cuban scientists say industrial scale production of Soberana 2 was stalled for weeks as they could not source an essential component.

“The lack of one small ingredient or one small control item can really throw production off,” said Gail Reed, executive editor of Medicc Review, a peer-reviewed health journal.

“US sanctions have had a nefarious, even lethal, effect on Cuba’s ability to face down the latest surge.”

Though slow out of the starting blocks, Cuba now has the third highest vaccination rate in Latin America (behind Chile and Uruguay). Twenty-seven per cent of the population have now been fully vaccinated, and 44% have received at least one dose.

Sanctions are worse than war.
It directly targets ur civilian population to starve and bankrupt them in an effort to force regime change. God damn American right wing Cubans. They’re absolutely disgusting creatures and they’re perfectly fine with this because Castro rightfully kicked those fascists off the fukking island.

Anyone know the psychology of anti-vaxx folks? Folks are losing their husbands, wives, and children, yet, firm in their ignorance. It’s perplexing to me.

A pregnant woman saw her husband die of covid. The nurses explained the vaccine to her, so she can get one. She eventually had to check herself into the hospital for covid without a vaccine.
