How did this 5G idea gain so much traction so soon? A lot of people on my FB timeline are posting conspiracy theories blaming COVID-19 on 5G today and I hasn't hearing anything about this yesterday.

Admittedly, I'm not up on foreign affairs. I've heard that dude was often compared to Trump, but I didn't know dude was saying bullshyt like this.
Because people are fukking idiots and don't do any research on anything. I could make a website called www.thisisabsolutelynottrue.com, write a story about sharks growing legs and invading Florida's panhandle and people would believe it.

Gotcha, I'm not surprised they're largely completely out of touch with reality. I can imagine. The photos and videos in the link are inexcusable. My friend in Rockland said it's really bad there too with the Hasidic community there. I haven't been to Williamsburg since this started. In Crown Heights where I am there really aren't any but I walked down by Kingston one day and everything was closed up on Eastern Parkway a week or so back.

Well lets look at two options; Mass Cremation or Mass Burial? The Human body begins to decay at the point of Death. With so many bodies, if not for cremation, then it's impossible to embalm each deceased. It's like Triage. There is just too many dead at the current moment to properly give each of them a proper burial and last rights.

I check in on conspiracy theory sites ever so often to see what they are saying. The 5G conspiracy theory has been around for a while. It’s either 5G makes you sick or 5G allows the government to monitor all of your activity, all the time.
I find conspiracy theories interesting (I even studied some academically for a bit). These 5G conspiracy theories are similar to previous conspiracy theories about emerging technology. Fear of the unknown leads to this type of thought.
While most of these conspiracy theories are pretty out there, there is a kernel of truth in most of them (e.g., 5G connections will always be on and will connect to devices in tour smart home) so some people believe them.
