He didn't miss the point. Breh is one of those old school Republicans, who support Dems cuz Republicans are Nazis.
What did I miss? That you guys believe Trump and Mitch will bailout small businesses and eventually taxpayers? I get heat on here for being a realist but you guys are making my brain hurt.
I know you're mad about Bernie @mastermind but there isn't a conservative bone in my body.

Small businesses aren't necessary and our welfare state will pick up the slack. I've overvalued their role in our society. My apologies @Hood Critic and @jj23

An update on my wife's situation. She had a surgery to clear out her sinuses, and the Dr I talked to said he had never seen an infection like that in his career. He said that it was like clearing out wet cement, but he also said that he accomplished his goal, doesn't believe the infection is fungal (which is the best news) and now that her passage ways are cleared out, it gives the medicine/antibiotics a better chance to turn the infection from spreading, and fighting it medicinally. She is on a vent from when they did the surgery, and they are being cautious in weening her off some of the drugs they have going into her before they take her off the vent. I hear ventilator and immediately go fukking crazy, but my best friend is an anesthesiologist and he explained things to me in a way that keeps me calm. I am still so very grateful for all of your positive thoughts/prayers/energy and beyond humbled. I have been texting her phone pictures of the dogs, who miss her and are sad, and just whatever stupid shyt comes to my mind, she does have her phone with her, so I'm just waiting for the day when she is able to see her phone, find out how emotional I have been, and text me that i'm a "p*ssy" (and probably worse, lol, both of us being not outwardly emotional, we joke all the time whenever the other shows any deep emotion, she is just like a coli breh in that respect, but it's out of love and humor). After what have been the absolute worst 3 days in my life, I am just starting to actually be kind of more and more grateful I am not there to just watch her suffer and not be able to do anything, although I do wish I could get more updates. I have had to call every time for updates, which I don't mind doing at all, but nobody from the hospital has called me other than the 1 Dr. that did her surgery, and the anesthesiologist to get permission. I know that ICU's are slammed, and I am eternally grateful for what all these HCP's are doing to keep my world alive, and I can't even imagine how many calls they take from people a day ranging in emotion from devastated, to confused, to angry af, but with her being in critical condition, I just wish there was a better way. I'm at a point now where I am not frantic, so I am doing some work, trying to keep my mind busy, lurking threads, watching some of the shows we would watch together so when she wakes up and can talk again, I can spoil the fukk out of them for her lol, and I plan on completely remodeling the bedroom for when she comes home, getting some of the pictures I have taken blown up and canvased, I'm going to completely redo the backyard, she wanted a patio set, I'm going to build her a whole ass "retreat" back there, just spending all this nervous energy on constructive things that will make her happy when she gets home. If I can't be with her, I will use my energy to make life more enjoyable for her when I can be again. Happy Easter, Coli, and from the bottom of my heart, I appreciate all of you!
Glad things are looking up. Prayers are still with you breh

Rations are coming. Stock up on food.

If these few short weeks have underlined anything it is not to trust the authorities on this matter. IMO their will be general rations eventually. The way I see it there already is when it comes to PPE and certain other products. In Germany you can only buy "3" of long-storable foodstuffs in supermarkets that I went to (Rewe, Real).

Will coronavirus spark a wave of food nationalism? | DW | 30.03.2020

I don't trust China at all...... US supply chain can still make beer, we can make masks
You're on the right track but you're wildly optimistic that a lot of the same people who are making money right now or have the reserves to weather this are going to suddenly wake up and do the right thing. I don't think anyone is sh*tting on your proposal as a whole, they just see the obstacles in the foundation of what makes it work.

Having states out of sync (some on stay at home, some in quarantine) is dangerous and why we're having rolling peaks instead of one as a whole. People forget that NY'ers were being targeted for stops on I-95 up and down the eastern seaboard not even a month ago because officials started freaking out that NY being an epicenter and their citizens fleeing south would cause a chain reaction.

Funny.

Do you agree that there are only two ways to maintain the current economy, government assistance or sending everyone back out into the world?

If you do, in your opinion, which is the better option and why?

Don't give the universe more ideas. But kind of seems like something else is coming. :lupe:

I think i said it in the TLR thread when all this mess started happening early on but this pandemic scenario with Trump as our president is my worst nightmare just because i know how whoa-fully unprepared we were as a country for this, my second part to this nightmare is the power-grid going down and keep in mind am not talking about nationwide i mean even 10 % - 20 % of it being out in any region , would be a fukin disaster, there isnt a stimulus check in the world that could prevent what would go down if that happened , that's the type of shyt that keeps me up at night.

19 years ago I thought September 11th would be my defining moment that affected me and the rest of my life, despite living in Wisconsin, because of the the policy changes and outright Middle Eastern hate that ensued leading to two wars which didn't help our economy.

Yet, not trying to downplay 9/11, but it was a quick event that was so sudden. Most of the people who died that day were killed within a matter of hours. Despite the magnitude, it was less than 3,000 fatalities. This event has gone on for a month, two months even.

I have gotten so used to working from home, and seeing less people in grocery stores. It almost doesn't feel like the Virus is present, yet I am reminded of such when now we have reached 20,000. That is 6 times more than 9/11, as you know easily 800 people will be dead tomorrow. That's easily the size of two graduating classes for some high schools, maybe even one.

A day.

And yet I feel this Coronavirus will be touchy for people. As with 9/11, most of the deaths were fairly quick. With this Coronavirus though, it has made people affect, feel helpless. As we want to be with people when they pass, but in this case we are not able to see our love ones in their final moments. And in a morbid way, we know that has to be, but we still don't want it that way.

It's type of suffering, that feeling of it being a slow death with no way of saying goodbye, that I think will sting for a long time. Even more if people suffer extreme financial hardship.
