Let’s talk about it then. If we open up too soon, the virus spreads rapidly through the population and given the numbers under quarantine, the numbers would be insane.

This guy is a research scientist and he estimates 300K dead a day if we let the virus wash over a population of 300 million.




Those kinds of numbers would shock the economy and bring everything to a complete standstill. The effects would be much, much worse than the controlled shutdown that we are dealing with right now.

So what’s the argument for opening early?

I don’t know the specific videos you are referencing. But he gets hate from both Conservatives and Liberals depending on the particular video.

had to leave this thread for the weekend because of the silliness

but i had a call with my friends in philly my boy has it and is only 32. said his chest is killing him right now but they sent him back home.
my other boys dad and mom got it. his mom only got what felt like a cold his dad was in icu for a week and then they sent him home with oxygen. said he is still not feeling good so they are keeping an eye.

also a friend of my girl is a ESL teacher to chinese students in china and she has been posting what they have been talking about and apparently.
-the cities that opened up in china are already shutting back down
-they are blaming other countries (russia)
-people around them are still extremely sick
-alot of the students have gone weeks/month without talking to family becuase they arent able to get ahold of them


i actaully feel for the people of china. becuase the times they do get to speak out they sound like you and i and they know they are fukked by the powers.
i dont actually think they want to eat bat etc etc that ive seen multiple times in this thread. this nikkas are POOR and they are eating what they can.
i know we wont but we need as the world need to check china on everything and/or pull out companies. like i said i know it wont happen but i want their peopel to be liberated from the nonsense
these african countries need to kick china out of their countries after and keep the money (Ethiopia im look at you suuuckaaa) the amount of chinese there when i visited my grandparents was mind blowing

Chloroquine and a newer, similar drug called hydroxychloroquine, have been pushed by Trump after some very small, early tests suggested the drugs might curb the virus from entering cells. But the drugs have long been known to have potentially serious side effects, including altering the heartbeat in a way that could lead to sudden death.

The Brazilian study, in the Amazonian city of Manaus, planned to enroll 440 severely ill Covid-19 patients to test two doses of chloroquine, but researchers reported results after only 81 had been treated.

One-fourth of those assigned to get 600mg twice a day for 10 days developed heart rhythm problems, and trends suggested more deaths were occurring in that group, so scientists stopped that part of the study.

The other group was given 450mg twice a day on the first day then once a day for four more days. That is closer to what is being tried in some other studies including some in the US. It’s too soon to know whether that will prove safe or effective; the Brazil study had no comparison group that was getting no treatment.

Only one participant in the Brazil study had no signs of the virus in throat swabs after treatment, researchers noted.

The results from the Brazil study were posted on a research website and have not yet been reviewed by other scientists.

Complicating matters is that all patients in the study also received two antibiotics, ceftriaxone and azithromycin. The latter also can have side effects on the heart. Trump has touted the hydroxychloroquine-azithromycin combination.

Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro has repeatedly touted the benefits of chloroquine and azithromycin, without evidence.
