how is knowing you're not a person in need condoning getting fukked by politicians? if this was something put to a vote to help those actualy in need, i'd vote for it, i'm not stopping them from being helped.

people out there who are losing jobs, small businesses that are closed and getting no patrons, people who may have a job but getting no hours, people who can't go to work because their kids are home, etc. i make a decent living, have no mortgage - i own a building and my tenants cover my mortgage and cash flow me, i paid off my car 4 years ago...like why the fukk would i say i need this money right now given the direct contrast of my situation to those who actually do need the money?

A big point of UBI being universal is to remove any stigmatization or politicizing towards the groups receiving it.
If it was only given based on 'merit' or immediate need, the conversation would quickly turn to "why does this person deserve / get a bailout", etc.

This is how the Republicans voted in 2008 and 2009 for TARP and Stimulus plan respectively.

That same day, the legislation for the bailout was put before the United States House of Representatives and failed 205–228, with one not voting. Democrats voted 140–95 in favor of the legislation, while Republicans voted 133–65 against it

On January 28, 2009, the House passed the bill by a 244–188 vote.[14] All but 11 Democrats voted for the bill, and 177 Republicans voted against it (one Republican did not vote).[15]

Can't wait to see them throw their free market and small government "beliefs" out the window for Cheeto. It's good for the nation, just pointing out their hypocrisy.

your stars are but dust on my shoes
I’m sorry man, this is why I’ve been so worried and it bothers me when people say it only affects old/sock people. Hopefully she doesn’t have it. Can she work from home? I’m trying to convince my mother (a nurse!) to just call off work but she wants to help.

Yup. One of my uncle's was down playing it like a week or so ago, frustrating to say the least.

The firm has started to make some people to work from home but not everyone. My aunt was upset that they still had her come in, but seems like as long as she can take her desktop home she'll be able to work remotely.

Shyt can get bad real quick. I'd want my mom to call off too if I was in your shoes. Truly a hero along with all the health care professionals fighting this disease right now. Can't imagine going to work under such horrifying conditions.:mjcry:

Prayers man.

i get that...but to criticize those of us who know it should go to those in need - optics be damned - as supporting corporate greed is stupid.

My poor aunt is panicking right now in the family group chat. She lives in Puebla, Mexico, and has started to complain of head ache, and dry cough.

She works at a German firm, and told us that a lawyer at the company has come down with a fever and sore throat. The gym the lawyer goes to was shut down due to someone testing positive for the virus.

My aunt takes care of my grandma, so everyone is getting worried. But my aunt is hella scared right now.:to:

Dang, hope she doesn't have it

My mom and sister are the only ones working out of the house and they both are in healthcare.

World is retarded. I work for a huge food manufacturer and the hourly workers change in the same locker room and all congregate at the time clock at the end of their shift.

Not to mention the water faucet for everyone to clean their hands gets boiling hot after a few minutes of people going through, making people bspend only 10 seconds washing their hands. Just fatally flawed on all levels. And we had a conference call with the CDC. Still running like shyt sweet.

I work at a beef plant and it's the same shyt here. I've been staying in my office as much as possible. I'm hoping they let me work from home.

Trump will give money away to win back the people and not let this ruin his reelection. He will gain voters by doing this, rather than let this whole thing ruin. Smart tactic. :patrice:

Ain't gonna work. His ass was toast once he uttered "I don't take personal responsibility for this at all"
