I went through the Recession as a 22 year old, and at it's depths, (not to glorify or overstate, but to contrast in terms to many I knew, and many Americans) I was starting to buy Ferragmo and Louie Vuitton, hotel suites, a relatively expensive lifestyle, obviously, the long term affects were a minus, as I should have been in a stable, moderately paying job, with all that entails, and that was all lost, but I have gone through the worst of the economic crises, and self created/earned ones, and still done well. Faced down jail, death, addiction, prosecution, robbery, Recessions. I lost about everything in 2012 and it was only 2015 when I was in the South of France on vacation.

But, this, I don't know. There's a lot of comparisons on both, accurate and not, and I am not an economist, but this could easily be close to the 2008 Recession, which maybe wouldn't even phase me, but it could be much, much worse. And the combined affects of these on the long term of one's life is pretty frustrating.

I would think overall economically.
I don’t know that it’s worse as much as it’s immediate and long lasting.

Everything is anecdotal but I’ve been in the sports industry for 20 plus years and this is the first time I’ve seen jobs threatened on a mass level. You go down levels to restaurants, hotels, etc and the amount of loss is already incredible and these things aren’t just coming back easily.

Tried to hit Coscto yesterday, and there was probably a 1,000 plus people in line, maybe 2,000. I skipped it. It was around the entire building. I just wanted some basics for two weeks, but some of these people are panicking, and understandable, who knows how long Costco is open?

This is people being stupid...

if you don’t need shyt right now, stay your ass at home, let the panic buying die down some and shop later. If you do need stuff, shop normally. THINK
I went today briefly because I had an errand to run. Store was mostly empty of people and supplies. I don’t I came with 6 feet of anyone for more than a few second in passing.

Standing in that line is fukking wild

Grocery stores and pharmacies will stay open, this has been communicated ad nauseum from cable news to local news to social media to Trump pressers, but no one is listening

Of course, but how can you trust it? Not saying I have lost it, but many families, esp. lower middle class/whatever term we are using have gone off the deep end. Whole Food was fine yesterday, out of some things, but not a greatly noticeable difference. And hey, my sister is in Oakland, she's under shelter in place, I'm assuming? I haven't talked to her yet. Her work is closed, as far as I know.

One by one, all these places are closing, starts with bars, dining, not it's retail, Nordstrom, Macy's, all these boutiques, alcohol chains, hard not to think some chains are going to close, and some will be sold out, too crowded, overrun.
