I question how much is going to change for restaurants even when things do lighten up. I have doubts that enough people are going to want to (or be able to afford) going back to restaurants that can funnel some of the business to quick pick-ups
It’s beyond restaurants - grooming services, health and wellness, small shops and boutiques (specialty foods, clothing, books, etc).

Yeah don’t disagree on those and a fair amount of those I think can manage the amount of people there at one time.

Those restaurants however :francis:

It's not just restaurants. It's any type of summer time venue,Amusement parks, clubs, festivals, beaches.

Man this is going be a weird summer even if they lift the restrictions.

Got two emails from local businesses asking for people to buy gift certificates...not sure 60k deaths, even 200k, is worth keeping everyone “locked down” (in states that are doing the stay at home) past May

:patrice:

This post doesn't make sense you want to go back to normal before the situation is handled.

The economy has already taken a hit. it's either lose billions or trillions. Lose the billions and relax.

Some businesses will fail and some will recover.
Companies now will see risk mitigation and risk management as necessary. Some will have a department for it and some at least will have some plans in place from now. The companies that survive will come out stronger in the end.

Relax and wait!

the total number of cases and hospitalizations is going down. All the deaths you’re seeing these past few days are people who most likely got sick two weeks ago. If the hospitalizations keep going down we’ll see fewer deaths soon. Also the hospitals aren’t running out of beds and ventilators as was previously predicted. Still have to keep social distancing though.

grasping for straws, everyone wants to be the first to report that we are in the clear which is dangerous since most people only listen to sound bytes and that's all it takes for some dummies to hit the streets like everything is good

Folks just want their Summer, shyt I know I do:lupe:

I didn’t say back to normal, but there’s a middle ground.

Furthermore I’m a person whose very comfortable with the concept of death and feel like if 200k people have to die to move through this faster, well :ld: and yes, I’m aware that that someone could be me or a loved one

:whoa:

Its not going to move through more quickly, its just going to cause more death and an even larger economic hit when we have to shut it down again.

:dahell: and how would you feel if those people are disproportionately black.

Like i mentioned a few weeks, blacks are the most susceptible population to die from this virus, because of racist structural and socioeconomical barriers that have collectively hindered our access to healthcare.

The big cities like NYC, Chicago and Detroit are only just now getting hit, but containment of this virus in the south is where the real problem will be. Thats also where most black people live, who also lack access to healthcare, don't make as much to afford to get sick and have a higher concentration of chronic diseases / preexisting conditions, which make the virus that much more lethal....

Fall back making these type of comments just because you're inconvenienced, at the moment please.

I’m wilding because I won’t call grocery workers heroes and because I don’t see 100k out of 350M people dying as the end of the world - especially if 2/3 of them are over 60?

No, I’m just posting how I feel, regardless of it not fitting the “group consensus”.
