theres 330 million people in this country how much money do you wanna print?

my friend is making a thousand bucks a week on unemployment to sit at home and watch netflix. before this, he was making 650 for actually working they seemed to have taken care of him

obviously im sure theres shytty stories out there too. but people are either still working, or getting paid more on unemployment than they were for their job. most people are taken care of

How many times you gonna say this and be wrong? Most people are making less on unemployment than their FT job and will be unemployed long after the increase is removed.

Everyone on unemployment ain’t just people making 25-30k in shift work/retail etc. and why are you not accounting for how long many people will be out of work? The smart ones will be working to make that last, not go ball out and buy flat screens. That shyt will drop back to ~$350/wk in July. You act like people can just chill collecting unemployment and then jump right into a new job once the 600 increase is done.

because theyre gonna roll out another bill if this is still around for 4 months

and nah, what you said before is not true. someone making 60 grand a year would make more money on unemployment plus 2400 a month thats just the facts

so why havent you said what you think the number should be? how much should the government give?

I'm in no rush to return to work knowing how the MTA botched this
and the 2 train which I work has had a mini outbreak; I'm playing it safe.

Who gives a shyt if someone who is unemployed makes $300 more than they would working for a few months?

350 (regular unemployment) plus 600 (UI increase) is 950 wk...$49k a year. Lots of unemployed people make more than that...but the reality is, unemployment with the pandemic extension is only 39 weeks, so even if paid that 950 the whole time, that’s $37k...but wait, there’s more, this increased is for only four (three if the extension ends at the beginning of July) months, then it’s back to 350/wk - how many people are surviving off of 1400/month and doing so in a way that supports them when UI benefits run out? People have 9 months to become employed before benefits end

you keep shooting shyt out your mouth like everything is going to bounce back and people will all have jobs again when 1000s of businesses arent coming back. This increase is meant to brace for the fact that people will likely be out of work for a long ass time, no one is most people arent getting a raise with this...unless you make less than 49k AND you’re able to bounce back into a job quickly, then just maybe you’ll have gotten a couple extra thousand this year..,oh no!
