You can actually, it's just never been done.

The faster people accept that getting things back to normal isn't an effective strategy then maybe we will begin to get innovative solutions. Active scanning for the virus, ultraviolet points to clean your hands, etc.

This may actually force people to look beyond money as an exchange standard.

Taking Trump out the equation alot of governors are going to be under pressure politically and economically to re-open. We have to understand state governments are losing a lot of tax revenue with places closing. The Federal reserve the other day implemented a 2.3 trillion lending programs for all types of bonds including for municipal bonds. But for how long? The Federal reserves balance sheet is going to be larger than the GDP of this country sometime next week. We are in real uncharted territory. I say red states will open up sooner especially around mid May.

Let those red states open early, and if you have family in them, still remind them to stay in the house and use social distancing as much as possible. They the guinea pigs of this experiment, lets hope they don't become another Japan where the second wave of the Rona forces a second major shutdown.

Highly doubtful. The first bailout for small businesses came too late for many and the law they signed most recently well that money still hasn't made it's way to small businesses.

Whether it's incompetence or indifference it really doesn't matter at the end of the day... a day late, a dollar short


loans and grants aren't going to help anyone if their businesses have folded, the supplies chains have collapsed, and everyone is going bankrupt and suing each other

the "average citizen" was just granted $1200 dollars if they were lucky, it still hasn't arrived and it's a pittance

That's a black eyes on the us government and the American society as a whole, but I think you missed the point @Hood Critic made. They should be getting help. The government NEEDS to give these businesses help and they fell asleep at the wheel.

They can do it. Just look at the speed in which they bailed out big companies.

You can go ahead and open back businesses, but there is still no normalcy, and no guarantee that money is going to roll in or people are going to support these businesses when they reopen.

So ultimately the government is giving small business owners a horrible choice. Die from lack of resources or take your chances and die from the virus and take others with you.
