I just want someone to explain to me what this accomplishes?

Absolutely nothing, it will allow those who want to move around freely now to do so and be absolved from guilt about it.

Despite all of the social media "can't wait for outside to open back up..." posts, a lot of people aren't going to rush out to participate in normal life with so much uncertainty still out there. The conspiracy theorist will start screaming about the government experimenting with herd immunity, while the conspiracy theorist who still don't believe any of this is real will be yelling about how they told everyone so.

The issue is really that there are no established goals for the public to identify that things are under control or getting better so the fear and uncertainty is going to run people back up into the house as the infections and deaths start to double. We'll still be in the midst of an economic shambles only this time, no one will be forcing you to stay at home.

Not so sure. I think people will start boycotting shyt made in China. But then Again people are weak and wushu washy so might not stuck.

This current (consumption/ service) economy is molded around China...Hell Walmart was once described as warehouse of Chinese goods....if im not mistsken, laws were changed to facilitate that...im sure you can throw the dollar stores in that bag, which are one if if not THE fastest growing stores....im imagining that's jus the beginning

Then you get into the fact that the majority of people arent making enough money to consume American produced products nowhere this current rate...(gig economy ...migrant labor n those competing with it lmao)

...the idea will require radical structural reform ...well beyond bernie or the current spectrum of American politics...and we see how lukewarm his reception was..White disregard and greed stalemated them into maintaining this...indefinitely maybe

Yeah, its not happening in our lifetimes without some type of global economic upheaval.

Capitalism and the search for expanding profits means companies will do what it takes to keep profit margins as large as possible. Cheap labor is easiest way to do it.

Bojo who supposedly the UK Trump delivered a nice message yesterday. The point above from @Hood Critic about not establishing goals within the public is spot on. Johnson reiterated how staying home is helping NHS workers stay healthy and saving lives. Instilling resolve is leadership right now. Talking about a day that will never come is lowest common denominator shyt to distract from a terrible government response. Cuomo and other more 'responsible' politicians having to blunt the irresponsible RW messaging on what opening up will look like is disappointing.

Not surprised who is taking the bait while ignoring an effective government response would alleviate their "concerns"

Anyway I can't remember if I saw this here or elsewhere, but it's worth a watch and does a great job of hammering home what a WOAT leader trump is. Imagine Trump delivering this message

Let’s talk about it then. If we open up too soon, the virus spreads rapidly through the population and given the numbers under quarantine, the numbers would be insane.

This guy is a research scientist and he estimates 300K dead a day if we let the virus wash over a population of 300 million.




Those kinds of numbers would shock the economy and bring everything to a complete standstill. The effects would be much, much worse than the controlled shutdown that we are dealing with right now.

So what’s the argument for opening early?
