if hospitals get overwhelmed to the point where they gotta install pop up tents in the parking lot again then yea, I see at least limited capacity happening again.

I havent been keeping up with the vaccinated numbers etc. but are there enough people unvaccinated that there could be an issue like this even in worst case? and whats the liklihood.

this shyt is so crazy still. people still talking about living in fear blah blah. naw my g nikkas are trynna survive and by survive im not saying die. im saying im not trying to get covid and have other covid related issues going forward in my life.

Missouri is a red state and has literally the worst covid-19 numbers in the country.

not saying those articles are fake. Im sayin tho, how come the media isn’t posting articles or talking about the ones that did recover? I know folks personally who are antivaxx, caught it, recovered and still wandering the streets like dumbasses with no masks. Why not talk about those people?

When 95-99% of the people hospitalized and/or that died are unvaccinated, what else are they supposed to talk about?

Unless the variants mutate to something that fully evades the vaccines then I can’t see the US going back to lockdowns or heavy restrictions. More adults (18+) have been partially or fully vaccinated (~69% with one dose, 60% fully vaxxed) than have not. And among children, covid has a very very low probability of causing severe illness.

Also, when people say only 49% of the US population is fully vaxxed, that stat is a bit misleading as there isn’t an approved shot for children under 12.

About 1/2 million doses are being administered daily and even better is that most of the folks over 65 (the age group most susceptible to covid hospitalizations and death) have received at least one doss. Even is MS that is bottom of the list in vaccinations, about 78% of its senior population has gotten at least one dose.

Currently vaccine follow up rates are about 95%. So by the end of summer we should be getting closer to 70% of all adults nationwide fully vaxxed. Per epidemiologists, 70% of the population vaxxed will mean the nation as a whole is getting to the lower bounds of herd immunity.

Long story short, even with these variants, the vaccine works and we shouldn’t see a huge spike in deaths again. The goal is to minimize deaths and serious illness, not to get to 0 covid cases.

So by summer we should be getting closer to 70% of all adults nationwide fully vaxxed.

I get where he’s coming from. At the peak of the pandemic it was some 3K deaths a day IIRC. The country is now down to ~200-300 and there are more adults that have gotten the vaccine that haven’t.

The intensity in which the media still reports on Covid doesn’t match the reality on ground. Yes, there’s still Covid, but the vaccines are protective against all the strains seen thus far.

Idk if it was here but I saw a post about covid in some southern state and some poster brought a graphic and said something to the tune of 95-99% of the people dying are unvaccinated. But if you poled the data some more, you’d see that of the unvaccinated that even had cases that landed them in the hospital, that number was like 7-8% of total unvaxxed cases. In absolute numbers is was small (relatively).

It’s some that nuance the media fails to convey when reporting.

I'm honestly not sure what he's trying to say.

If you read the original post I quoted before the one you quoted....he said if things are bad in the red states, why isn't it readily apparent?

I live in a red state, and it's readily apparent

Is it as bad as it was in the winter? No.

Does the media blow shyt out of proportion? Yes.

But neither of those things have anything to do with his original question.
