I have mixed feelings on this. I think it's more of a way for them to politicize the virus, and less about trying to pick on obese people.

However, I guess it could be both.

I definitely despise the politicization of the virus. And I'm not for shaming overweight or obese people. But I'm very against the NAAFA and fat acceptance movements that try to bullshyt people and say that obese people can be just as healthy as people that aren't obese. Those folks are just delusional.

I don't really have a dog in the fat shaming fight but as a gym breh I think most people are a poor man's version of their own self perceptions when it comes to how in shape they actually are.

FastStats

Percent of adults aged 20 and over with obesity: 42.5% (2017-2018)
Percent of adults aged 20 and over with overweight, including obesity: 73.6% (2017-2018)
)

So whenever I see someone dismiss a covid death due to the beer gut of the deceased I can't help but think that the person making the comment is out of shape themselves.

Absolutely. I agree entirely. And largely for the same reasons as you. My career is BJJ/martial arts so I'm always in the gym, and a lot of my perceptions and beliefs on this stuff comes from living that kind of lifestyle.

The amount of people that are overweight or obese these days is mind blowing.

I’m a active fit person but I won’t ever shame anyone cause of their weight or health. It’s not right to.

In terms of making a personal choice. I can respect that. But I do wonder at what point is there enough evidence? I'm not talking about FDA approval, but just looking at the data and the obvious conclusion. We're looking at over 4 billion doses administered worldwide, over 1 billion people fully vaxxed, and over a year since clinical trials on the vaccines began. No serious adverse effects have been correlated to the vaccines, even late appearing side effects ought to have shown up by now from such a dramatically large cohort. Are their extremely rare examples of serious adverse effects? Yes...that's true of literally ANYTHING and the appearance of those adverse side effects are far less likely than catching COVID or dying of it. I also don't think there would be such a massive effort going toward protecting the intellectual properties of these vaccines if they were unsafe...they'd be using poor countries to test the shoddy vaccines out rather than hording them for use by wealthy nations.
I don't know that there will be a point.

That's the con with a lot of anti-vaxxers. They act like they're open minded to evidence, and need to do more research, but the reality is they essentially do zero research, and they don't give a fukk about actual evidence at all (assuming they even know what it is and how to find it.)

They have their mind made up, and they work backwards from the conclusion. They aren't actually approaching the situation from any sort of scientific perspective of looking at the evidence and then drawing a conclusion. They mascarade behind the notion of being skeptical, but they aren't actually skeptical people. They're just conspiracy theorists that use the word skepticism when in reality they're just stubborn deniers. Real skeptics are open to having their minds changed, and most conspiracy theorist types are not that way.

Like, it takes a special kind of stupid to look at the fact that more than 99.99% of Americans that have received the vaccine have not died or been hospitalized from Covid, and then see that almost more people have died from Covid in the United States than every single casualty of war our country as ever had combined........AND THEN they come to the conclusion that the getting the free vaccine is riskier than getting Covid.
:mindblown:

Edit: How many stories do anti-vaxxers need to read recently of other anti-vaxxers that are begging to get the vaccine on their death bed after it's too late?

What the fukk are the 14% on line #1 doing if this is the case? :dahell: That 14% should go get taken care of right away.

All 3 of the others seem like things that should take care of themselves, or could be taken care of with even semi-competent leadership.
I suspect majority of "if vaccine could protect my family from covid-19" group that said yes are just anti-vaxxers that don't to be labeled as such.

It will be interesting to see how much the full FDA approval moves the needle or if they'll just find another excuse.
