I just read a statement about feudalism that blew my mind. It pointed out that serfs could do almost whatever they wanted on their own land and it was practically impossible (and counterproductive for the lord) to kick them off. Whereas the poor among the current "free" people can hardly ever own any land at all and have to do their master's exact bidding on his land in constant fear of losing both work and home.

Same shyt can happen today.

That's a great observation. I guess in the matter of today at least there is free-choice in where you live and what you do for a living albeit limited by social class....

That was deep, bro. Lets go back to feudalism.

The argument isn't that feudalism is "good", it's highlighting how bad the current system is.

And looking at what % of property globally is owned by the wealthy class, there is less "free choice" to live than many think. Americans may have it sort of decent, but in a lot of countries if you're not part of the elite, where you can live is quite restricted to pretty bad options and owning your own land where you can do what you want is basically a pipe dream

No shyt. I get your point that ignores centuries of history.

The policies of FDR really fukked over Americans for nearly 100 years and we are reaching a breaking point. Tax codes should go away so that companies do not have to do this and that the average joe blow making 250K less can live in peace. Corporations shouldn't have to tuck money in the Caymans. Also government has gotten too pervasive with the labor laws, especially minimum wage and unions, causing outsourcing jobs that could be had by poor-middle Americans, especially children since adults are now competing for jobs children once had leaving our youth idle and behind.

Martin Baker, the guy everyone calls a c00n from the cell phone meme, understood this and promoted House Resolution 25 Bill that does away IRS after 2019. A flat national tax on goods (with some exemptions) that allows American spending to fuel the economy.

:ehh: Not much has really changed...other than us getting to pick a symbolic figurehead who is usually pre selected.
i would say much has changed and much has stayed the same

sure you have ruling classes, but you are no longer literally forbidden (by the state) from joining said class if you possess the capability

life before the days of things like the magna carta was not yours, it belonged to the state along with everything else
people who worship the state usually don't study or understand history, which is why we so often tend to repeat it :manny:
