It depends on the landscape of the game...is it today's game or 03's game?

In today's game no, I don't think he could because it's not really about authenticity and being gangsta and all that. I mean it is if that's your thing...but it doesn't have to be your thing anymore, you could be a weirdo, kiss men, wear girl clothes, etc... All that shyt flies now. So 50 trying to make us think Drake is soft and p*ssy is moot...we already know that, lol, and he's still loved.

This is definitely the answer, I tell folks all the time that if Drake dropped back in the day his ass would be Jermaine Dupree to a lesser extent because he uses ghost writers and shyt.

Rap game prior to 2004 was a gladiator's sport. Cats with fame, platinum albums, and so on can step into a random battle and lose practically E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G over a few missteps. It was walking on eggshells and so on. Jay Felony got sonned by Jay-Z, as well as Prodigy, and even Stan Spit got bodied by Cam'Ron. Even Ja Rule with 4 multi platinum albums got pressed on because his long term beef with 50 rolled over to Em and Dre.

Kanye West came in and changed the nature of the blood sport. So after 2004, someone like Drake simply cannot be Ja Rule'd out.

Totally different eras so you can't make the comparison. A better question would be...could a hood or more "rappity rap" dude have clowned Drake in the last decade, like 50 did Ja. My answer is no and it's why I've always felt like people saying Kendrick (or Cole) would destroy Drake haven't been paying attention. Both are better rappers, make better albums, and don't have ghostwriters. But people identity with Drake more than them, and audiences today are more like Drake than a dude who grew up poor in Compton or North Carolina. The melody stuff has been dominant for too long, nobody knocks him for his suburban roots, nobody cares that he's not a gangsta, and we saw that most people didn't even give a shyt that he has/had ghostwriters.

He's basically got that 8 Mile Rabbit thing where his weaknesses don't hurt him because he acknowledged them. Yea he's a simp, he's told you that for a decade so how can he be attacked on that.
