Could a video game based on the Bible work

Like the Darksiders series?I've been thinking about it. A game dedicated to Revelations could be good. I see it as an action game
I guess, but more bible based, if you know what I mean. (To be fair I only played a bit of Darksiders, so I'm not the best person to ask.)

A kid who lived by me growing up had this game but he was more like a real life Rod Flanders
It needs to be open world but you have long lasting consequences. For example, in Fable you could marry anyone, create a family. But in this Bible game, you're a warrior prophet. God told you to do certain things. If you stray, he will fukk you up and make you lose everything including your family and all your riches.
It's like getting reset like in Metroid or when Link arrived on Eventide Island. Becomes some survivor shyt. So even though it's open world, if God puts you on a mission, you have a timer and specific area you need to be in. If you don't do it within that time or you're not in that area during your mission, it's time to fukk you up. You gotta fight off slavers or your own people who are mad cause you told them the truth the other day and they ain't like it. You gotta fight off angels who possess randon NPCs to whoop your ass. Lets say you in the wrong area and wasting time fishing like Link or Noctis. That's when the Whale eats yo ass. Just an example.
