I was thinking about this and the only major release that deals exclusively with Cartels is Traffic, and that was made back in 99, before shyt started really getting out of control.

With journalists in Mexico getting kidnapped over negative coverage, could it be that hollywood producers/execs are shook?

No, they would rather make sequels and rehashes. ohh and superhero movies which are sequels and rehashes :lolbron:

I need to check out indie and low budget film for some interesting new ideas. Hollywood lazy as fk putting out same ol fkin blockbuster movies.

Ya I suppose Savages and End Of Watch count..

I thought End Of Watch was a really low profile movie but I looked it up and it actually made 50 mill.. so ya that definitely counts

Yes, they definitely could make a realistic, accurate movie set in a any number of locations, from Juarez to Sinaloa, and over to Tampaluipas, there's an infinite amount of stories to be told, and framed by cartel violence and that general environment, I have a handful of good ideas for scripts....not like they are standing in my way, but I doubt similar ones would even get a second look... because Hollywood prefers to give us snarling, cliche, downright embarrassing versions of these figures, and you get trash like 'Savages', I though 'End Of Watch' did a convincing job with that element of their story though. Unfortunately, I think we will continue to see the antagonists and villains of B rate action movies be mexican drug lords and their henchmen, much like Russians were portrayed in the 80's. The stock bad guy, so to speak.

I think we will see very little of that world portrayed in a meaningful and artistic fashion, directors like Michael Mann, could make a masterpiece with the content though. I think a newer director with a touch for romance epics, could make a classic with the right script, of this concept I thought of, 'Legends Of The Fall' style story, set in the marijuana fields in remote northern Sinaloa, beautiful sweeping scenery, tragedy and family, love and violence.... theres literally so many stories to tell, but we'll keep getting the bullshyt. ....'Traffic' may be the best we will get.
