Is It Up To XBOX Or The Game Publisher?

Can This Change On A Game To Game Basis?

Right now it's completely up to the publisher. And publishers hate the used game market...so you can guess how that will go.

Third party publishers may opt in or out of supporting game resale and may set up business terms or transfer fees with retailers.

There is no system in place to charge a fee for activating a used game. just like this gen publishers can do what they want like add online passes.

As for your ideas in the op. #1 has already been confirmed and I think some form of 2 and 3 will be prevelant before this gen is over with.

Now To Get This Out The Way Let Me State That I Am XBOX All The Way, From Day One Of The FIRST XBOX Till Now, Never Owned A Playstation, And I've Been Completely HAPPY In My Experience With Microsoft

With That Said

What The fukk Am I Gonna Do With XBOX Games I Beat? They're Useless Now

People Are Gonna Either Pay Full Or Sale Price For A Brand New, Sealed, Unopened Game Or Download It Off XBOX Live, Our Games Are Now Useless After We're Done With Them, Yeah I Hardly Buy Used Games, But I DO Sell Games And Use That Cash For NEW Games

Here Are The Only Redeemable Factors I Can Think Of

1. New Releases Should Be Available For Download, In The Marketplace, ON GAME DAY, As Soon As It Hits Midnight

2. Downloaded Games Should Be $15-$20 Cheaper Then Their Physical Counter Parts, If You Want To Own A Physical Disc So You Can Have A Pretty Looking Collection, Or You Want A "Special Edition" Toy And Artwork To Go With It That's On You. If Physical Games Are $60 Then NEW Downloadable Games Should Be $40-$45 On Release Date

3. The Option To "Share" Your Download For Credit. Ok Lets Say I Buy A Downloadable Game For $40-45 Bucks And Beat It, It Takes MS Damn Near 2 Years To Lower The Price In The Marketplace. Instead Of My Friend Waiting For A Sale And Buying It In The Marketplace, He Pays A Smaller Fee To DL It From Me (Think Of It As An "Early Sale Price"). He Pays Cheaper For The Game, I Get A CREDIT That I Can Build To Eventually Use Toward Whatever Purchases I Want, And Microsoft Gets The Money That My Friend Paid For The DL, Everybody Wins. It's Basically Like A Virtual Gamestop, Only Now Microsoft Gets Their Piece.

To ME This Would Be Worth It

I Ask BOTH XBOX And PS Heads To Put Their Lame Ass Biases Aside And Tell Me What They Think Of This Idea.
The PS Vita allows a small discount for Digital purchases vs Retail, I think the Wii U does it as well as long as you buy the "Deluxe" Wii U.

The credit system will be in place, but the details are probably still being worked out.

More than likely it'll be up to the publisher. My biggest beef with ms is the online checkin and kinect since I could not care less for it. I guess now, after sony pulled the rug from under them, they will go back and do some things differently. I saw earlier too, that sony didnt decide on a system price until after microsoft revealed theirs. So sony allowed ms to make all the mistakes then came in after to clean up. No doubt we'll see some changes from microsoft even though gamewise they did excellent imo.

2 Things Saving Microsoft, 1. They Showed Some Great Games, Not Being Biased But RYSE And Quantum Break Look DOPE To Me, And 2. Theres MFers Out There Who Have Had The Same Gamertag Like 10 Years Now, Some People Are Not Comfortable Throwing That Away

I didnt even think about the gamertag aspect of it but you're right about that fam. I was also interested in halo since I've liked them all except halo wars and titanfall looks to be major as well.

^^^^
As far as used games go @HARLEM AL we dont know yet how exactly it will work. They said they support used games but the big issue is game sharing or lending.

The day 1 digital is available now with titles (at least on PS3). I only wish they would drop the price like 5 bux like they do with Vita digital downloads.

OP where did you get that digital downloads are gonna be that much cheaper than retail physical copies or are you just speculating? I assumed that it would be the same retail price. I'm pretty sure the cost of manufacturing a physical disc, box, cover, and instructions + shipping do not equal a $15 or $20

I like the idea that games should be downloadable from day one (at a discounted price), especially if what I read was true "you have to install the game in the box and then you have no need for the disc"

All digital releases should be cheaper than retail releases. Ain't nobody convincing me that uploading a game to a server costs just as much as the total cost of burning a game to millions of discs, creating covers and manuals to accompany said discs and then distribute them to stores.

XBOX is gonna throw their "innovation" in the bushes if they want to stay competitive. They're gonna release some bs statement, "After consulting several focus groups, we have determined that gamers value the flexibility that they have always enjoyed with the XBOX brand, and as such we have decided to adhere to the model that you, our loyal customers, have always known and loved..." etc....

It will be very :comeon: worthy, but it is their only choice at this point.

1.) They already said that all games will be available for download the same day they hit store shelves.

2.) Downloadable games will be the same price most likely. Buying the physical copy is retarded at this point because all your doing is taking that physical copy and turning it into your digital copy. Then you take your disc and put it up in your closet for safe keeping. Games don't even have books anymore because the books will be in the games themselves. Lots of games have already begun doing this. Also, most games moving forward are adopting the free to play model. So there won't even be disc based versions of games by year 4. Most gamers don't realize this, the only reason there is a blu-ray drive in the machines is because YOU GUYS are not comfortable with THE FUTURE :manny: Once you get used to the idea of no disc, you'll the realize "why the fukk am I buying blu-rays" and then there will be a disc-less version of Xbox and PS4. Trust me, only reason why ppl are mad about digital downloads is because they actually think we'll remain as status quo

Literally 2yrs ago, the majority of posters on this forum was worried about cap space thinking we as a society wouldnt be moving forward. 5yrs ago the majority of posters here felt like people downloading movies mostly wouldn't change for another 10+yrs. 10yrs ago people was still buying music CD's. In hindsight you can see how most of your peers lack vision and understanding of how our future is being shaped

3.) You can share your game with 10 family members. Lets say you don't have any family that plays like that? Ok, have one of your friends come over and designate him as your "family". Now, whenever you buy a game, or he buys one? Its BOTH OF YOURS. Not just that one game, but EVERY GAME YOU OWN OR HE OWNS IS AVAILABLE ALWAYS FOR BOTH OF YOU AT ALL TIMES!!!. And you can play online with him on the same game you or him bought AT THE SAME TIME. He can be in the Bronx, while you can be in Miami, different Xbox One's, One downloaded game, shared by two people in different parts of the world at the same damn time.
Then if that friend got off, another friend from your "family 10" can hop on and play with you. They haven't made it clear yet if a 3rd person could be playing a different game in your library while you and another play one game online or not. If you want to give a game to a friend, you can do that ONCE for free. The whole FEE thing your talking about is what Microsoft already worked out. Microsoft won't get a cut, the game developer will via gamestop. But they are working on other ways, and what you came up with is something they would consider. I think they'll have a better solution but I could be wrong
