So just a thought...

If you’ve read the book freakonomics, you know there is a strong correlation between decreased crime rates and the legalization and proliferation of abortion. The idea is simply that impoverished families are more likely to have abortions and that children from these environments are more likely to be arrested for criminal behavior. So, these abortions result in fewer citizens who are predisposed to criminality.

1. Governor Ivey is backing a $900 million plan to build three new private prisons.

Alabama lawmaker says Ivey’s $900 million prison plan hard to swallow

2. Ivey is largely responsible for the passing of this abortion bill.

Are private prisons trying to ensure full prisons within the next 18 years?

Thoughts?

No, they just stand to benefit from this in the long run. Telling you, some of you underestimate these bible thumpers. Might do well to Google Eric Rudolph.

Above the fray.
OP, interesting. I've written here before that people use existing laws/programs in ways that they might not have been intended.

I think legal abortion was meant as a last resort when circumstances lead to unwanted birth. I think social programs were meant for the same reason, last resort when family was in bad financial shape.

Rules and laws have been misused to such an extent that population of people unequipped to raise families(and who shouldn't) has ballooned.

Law enforcement can make projections on future inmate population based on the trends for the past 40 years. They can also predict how the unwanted pregnancy rate will not decline among certain segments of the population, even under a no abortion law.

I’m sorry brehs... I just don’t think this anjust a bunch of evangelicals doing this. If it was this easy this would have been done long ago. Especially in a place like Alabama. There has to be some larger power structure behind this to make this radical legislative decision. All of those clowns look like they’d be willing to take some kickbacks to do something like this.

That may be true. But is that rate fast enough to satisfy private prisons and their investors. Are the numbers stable? Is the rate fast enough to “supply” the amount of prisons that are being built while they have people in office that support the idea of largely privatizing the prison system? Nobody has ever said “we have enough profit.”

yes.

dumb the kids down by taking away funding for public education, inflate the cost of secondary education, brainwash by hypnosis thru entertainment/social media, force adults into debt slaves so they work and not raise their kids, take away social programs for needy families to create a) reliance on government and b) create desperate situations where one resorts to crime. genetically alter food to rearrange your dna, emasculate males, particularly black males...

this is just the first step, then roe vs wade, then whatever else after that. thats why they were so invested in getting them GOP judges all confirmed and appointed to lifetime seats. obama really pissed off them racist whites.

Don't really think contraceptives factor in much :yeshrug:

Breh, imagine if women didn't have access to birth control. Matter fact, according to the link below contraceptives prevent 112 million abortions a year globally. Contraceptives limit population growth far more than abortions. That said, if this Alabama legislation were really about increasing the prison population, or increasing white birth rates, contraceptives would have been their target.

Again, I think folks on here underestimate religious zealotry and then by extension entertain conspiracy theories. Its like Nipsey all over again. We're talking about the Bible Belt, evangelicals, etc.. The Olympics in 96 were targeted by a terrorist over abortion. Every now and then I drive by people holding signs with pictures of dead fetus bodies. They're not thinking that far ahead about incarcerating Black people. Y'all giving these folks more credit than they deserve. Like Michelle Obama said, they're not that smart.
