Could Ryback have succeeded in Roman Reign's spot?

Yes but he wouldnt transition as a solo star like Reigns will after. He would keep that goon stench on him whole Reigns charisma shines through.

Ryback did great as a c00n for Nexus but his limitations were well guarded. They wouldnt be if he was in The Shield.

I mean...the people made him a star very fast. And I'd agree that booking failed him before he was really exposed as a performer.

Reigns has more upside, of course. But it doesn't take much to amuse crowds...and Ryback had the people.

Crazy to me that he's just tag team fodder now

That's tough to say, but I definitely think if Reigns was put in Ryback's spot he would have failed miserably. In retrospect Ryback did a lot with the garbage they gave him. His ring work was lacking, but initially he had a mystique that's hard to manufacture. Hot shotting him to the main event, and then putting him up against a smark hero in PPV main events was setting him up for failure.

Can't help but feel for Ryback. His push basically got fukked over because of two guys that aren't even around anymore.

Listen to the pops. Look at that crowd. People wanted to see him go over. Had J.R. there to build the moment. Everything was going right.

I think he would've. He has a more intimidating look than Reigns. He's not a better wrestler, but the Meat Hook and Shell Shock are done well and he would've been the one powerbombing people. He would've been over. Plus, "You know nothing about nutrition" and his "The Big Guy" run showed he would've been okay on the mic (which Reigns is still unproven IMO).

I still think he can turn it around. The wrestling world needs a muscle bully heel

he also, had a great match with cena.

imo, ryback is probably another troll job to Goldberg.

in ryback's case,..
ryback could have been used much better.
as a possible heel antagonist to batista, for the whc.

just like bray wyatt should have been used to beat down taker, up until mania.
then, used as a violent formidable jobber like mankind was, to taker.
then, used to keep the streak going instead of brock lesnar being misused.
instead, of the victory being used as a one line to draw heat for paul heyman.

I don't think he would've. Reigns has the silent assassin thing going and it's working for him and the shield. Ryback would've wanted to do all the talking and shut up ambrose. Plus I don't think he would've been put in the tag team with rollins. The shield has good chemistry. Ryback just became a joke over time. In the ring and outside of it. I read the other day he suggested axel call his finisher the axehole. Don't know which move that is. I think reigns is like how cesaro was a few months back. Someone that was underrated outside of the iwc and now people are starting to see what he can do. Glad the whole dissension amongst the shield around the rumble is now water under the bridge.
