Could these old school teams be made today and kept together?

The 98 Pacers :mjlol:

I thought I was gonna see Showtime Lakers and I got the 1998 Pacers :dead:

It's probably easier to keep teams together in this day in age, as you limit what an individual can make. The Cavs are currently making a mockery of the salary cap and the Warriors are on their way.

The whole purpose of the 1998 and 2011 lockouts was to limit how much players could make

Fixed.

Players used to get damn near 60% of basketball related revenue, now they are at 50%. Mike's salary was bigger than the cap his last couple years in CHI.

They said a bunch of sideways ass shyt. The owner said he'd trade all 6 Bulls championships for one White Sox ring.

The GM said players don't win championships. Front offices win championships.

They also gave Scottie the okey-doke and got him to sign a bullshyt ass contract and when he complained they basically laughed and said he shouldn't have signed it if he wanted more money.

They broke up the most successfull basketball team EVER over money:mindblown::dahell::shaq2::why:
yeah I rescind my statement, the way the NBA is today, they would've eventually fukked over the players for less than they worth

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
In today's game, Knicks wouldn't have lasted, that Blazers squad with Pip probably wouldn't have been possible, 80s Lakers would've had 2 200m players, and James probably would've been getting like 130M, etc

I feel like Bulls would've somehow existed anyway. I don't know how, but I can't imagine a way where nikkas just don't take less to play there
i think the bulls teams would have stayed together for one reason... jordan

look at curry and lebron... every year half the team is making shyt, so they can come play with them and try to win a ring

jordan and pippen would max... rodman maybe gets the max, but remember at that point, nobody wanted him anymore after san antonio said fukk him... even then, 3 max players like the cavs got now... and then you still have space for the role players

who would say to themselves.... hmmmmm i can go play with jordan, pippen and rodman and get this ring... yea i'll do it

Well most of Golden State for the recent past was signed to brilliantly small contracts and extensions because most of them weren't worth shyt up until like 2013. I think the most recent relevant piece was signed for 90M or so 2 years ago

I get what you're saying. But the most recent piece is KD. And he took less to go there for a ring

Bron been taking less for years for a ring in Miami. Until he found out he could bully his owner into paying the tax every year.

I think most these dudes is all about brand now. They know that going to a super team, taking a little less, and winning 2-3 rings is going to do a lot more than being a max on a team with no chance.

Someone would've thrown Kukoc the max or a close to it.

no they couldn't

After three years of courting him, the Chicago Bulls finally landed Toni Kukoc yesterday, signing the 6-foot-11-inch guard known as the "Magic Johnson of Europe" to a multiyear contract.

Although contract details were sketchy, it has been estimated for weeks to be hovering in the range of $17.6 million over seven or eight years. There is no salary cap restriction because the Bulls have owned Kukoc's rights since drafting him in 1990.

they drafted him so nobody could have him... by the time he came to the bulls, they signed him to a 7 year deal... that was 93... so they had him locked until 2000 at the minimum

i get that... but they drafted him.. no other team would be giving him a max or anything else. in today's age, whenever he did decide to come over, he'd be getting the standard rookie wage and 4 years (2 plus 2 team options) so regardless, the bulls would have kept him for the jordan years
