Could you imagine a DiBiase face run?

million dollar man is remembered as one of the most evil characters in history, and i think that is mainly because of 2 reasons.

1. because he was a smug muthafukka that everyone hated.

2. because the character had never been humbled.

and that second reason is what inspired me to make this thread. almost every great bad guy throughout the years has at one point or another has drawn sympathy from the fans. but you can't say that with dibiase. once he became the million dollar man he remained a villain throughout his entire career.

do you think the character could have worked as a hero? could you envision the fans ever forgiving him? how could it have been pulled off?

just curious to hear your ideas.

Simple...introduce an even more unlikeable villain and have him son DiBiase. Then emphasize on Dibiase digging deep down and trying to overcome this villain. Willpower and determination are staple face characteristics, so that will help him win the crowd I think.

True. But at the end of the day, Dibiase is still rich. And white. He'd just be less of a heel.

dibiase wouldn't dig down though. that wasn't how he rolled. when faced with a challenge he would either try and buy his way out or weasel his way out. "digging deep" wasn't in the gameplan.

to get to that point something has to trigger that change of heart. there has to be a moment of realization for the character in which he understands the error of his ways first.

DiBiase finds Virgil selling junk in a subway station, their eyes meet, and they both begin to cry softly.

They hug, Virgil loses his footing, and falls into an oncoming train.

DiBiase commits himself to helping those less fortunate.

I'm just saying that he can come face to face with someone, on whom money it weaseling his way will not work. This leads to him getting sonned like never before.Maybe he meets someone with even more money than he has, and there's no way he can win on that front, which leads to him finding another way to secure victory.

Might not be 100% match, but I think the Vince Mc Mahon/Ted Turner rivalry is a good example. Vince got away with fukking over the smaller promoters and territories, until Ted Turner showed up on the scene and WCW was doing better in ratings.

Sure Vince didn't become a saint or anything, I was more trying to give an example of someone who was used to getting by with money, hitting a wall and having to really make some major changes in order to overcome that obstacle.

right but those are usually good guys.

and anyone at that time who handed it to dibiase would've got cheered. even if he were a heel it would've been an instant face turn, especially after rejecting dibiase's advances.

the only dudes who didn't have a price were the good guys. the heels on the roster all at one point or another took money. andre, rude, perfect, heenan, slick, bossman, akeem, jimmy hart, etc... dibiase did business with all them dudes.

The only way I can image Ted DiBiase to be a babyface was if he used his money to help him achieve his goals the hard way instead of the easy way like buying victories. For example lets just say he feuded with a heel Jake Roberts, DiBiase would use his funds to buy a zoo so he can learn how to counter act cobra venom and use his money to develop an antidote since he seen Macho Man get bitten by Jake's cobra... something along those means

Have the source of his fortune somehow overtook by an even more unlikable character, and have the heel flaunt Dibiase's wealth. Have a program ending with a one night only match in order to get the rights to the business, during the program Dibiase learns what its like to be a commoner. MAKE HIM HUMBLE.

what about if dibiase was in a fukkin blood feud with another good guy character, let's also say jake (since he was so intense as both face and heel) and like they have this real grueling match. i'm talkin like an absolute bloodbath.

and then there comes a point during their match where dibiase has the chance to cheat... like the ref is knocked out and he's got the million dollar belt in his hands... and just as he's about to strike jake with it... he hesitates. he looks into jake's bloody eyes and he sees the passion and the fire. he stops dead in his track. he drops the belt... gives jake the .... and the 2 of them finish it like men.

in other words it took someone else to bring the fire and the passion out of him. and now that he's felt it he can't possibly go back to cheating and being underhanded. now he just wants to prove himself.

he gives the million dollar belt to the brooklyn brawler. tells him "here get out of brooklyn this will get you enough money to retire down in florida"

but i'm thinkin for him to be a full fledged face he'd have to drop the million dollar moniker. you can't be a good guy and still be flauntin around money like that, at least not during that time in wrestling. he probably would have to adopt like a whole new gimmick. but they can't stray too far off with it. they would have to still keep the million dollar shyt on the shelf should the face turn fail so he could go right back to it.

tricked him into an underhanded agreement when the 2 formed money inc. and seizes his assets.

you cannot write a better foil for the character. because if there's one thing even the richest man in the world cannot escape, it's paying taxes.

and then after the audit he rebrands himself IR$
