Fun fact about him, his first two records were released in the late 60s with no pictures of him. No one knew he was black and he sounded like a white guy and he surprised the dogshyt out of the first few thousand people who came to his shows.

As a dude from Hong Kong, my image of country music is screwfaced old white people riding crusty pickups with straw in their mouths and loose overalls while mean mugging anyone that isn't white. shyt, even well dressed white people or different looking white people


There are some decent tracks I've heard though. Can't hate on a whole genre because of my silly misconceptions.

I like a bit of country here and there. Mostly the modern pop country though. And always female, I started listening to Taylor Swift as a country singer. Cassadee Pope, the lead singer of a pop-rock band named Hey Monday I liked for a while became a country singer. Like I said I like the pop country with a female singer. And for whatever reason I can't really listen to male country singers. There's something about that twang that's like a pickaxe being rudely introduced to my ear drums.

I'm actually really familiar with Shania Twain. Come On Over was the first country album I ever owned. I got it from one of those Columbia House type things were they sent you like ten CDs every other month or something. Got it totally on accident and fell in love with it.

Does Linda Rondstadt count as country? I remember hearing for the first time at an exhibit at the rock and roll hall of fame and rushed to the giftshop to buy her greatest hits cd.
