If we treated this as the seasonal flu, doing nothing to curb social interaction, society would collapse. The term "peaking" doesn't speak to the lethality of the virus and its contagiousness; it's in reference to its capacity to spread among the community, the peak usually reached when a sufficient number of citizens are practicing proper social distancing.
You're still not getting back summer, and will probably receive fall and winter in small increments, with society still shutdown to a degree. 2020 is a wrap. Get over it.

Lets say this decreases with the seasons like the cold, well the southern Hemisphere is going through fall now and will be in winter while we are in the summer. Just taking Brazil for example, their leader already basically took a "if you die, you die" approach so at least there its not going anywhere with that bullshyt. People don't know how to practice social distancing worth a damn and people still gathering in groups.
Went to the store for a supply run and I cross paths with this dude heading straight towards me. I tried to avoid him well ahead of time but he wasn't making any attempt on his part to do the same. There are a lot of people who just don't give a fukk.

Stuff ain’t going back to the way it was anytime soon. If it took people staying home and shutting down the economy to settle at 10,000 deaths, logic would tell you going back would increase your death and infection rates.
Buying time to manufacture enough ventilators, treatments, etc to have large crowds not overwhelm the hosptitals is the goal in the short term.
