Is it a cheap model? How would you evaluate it?

yeah seems pretty generic but it seems to work fine. I used it against the one my roommate got from the doctor, same results.

I got one because I’m traveling to Japan Sunday for work...will be over there 30+ days.

Yes, skeptical.
For proof, look no further than the article/audio clip you posted on the site on January 21, 2020

Using the information available at the time, the NPR article that you posted, included this quote. (posting the full passage for context)
=====
Should Americans be afraid of coronavirus?
"With global travel, the spread of any infectious disease is literally a plane ride away," says Robert Glatter, an emergency physician at New York's Lenox Hill Hospital.

On Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Customs and Border Protection began enhanced health screenings to detect travelers sickened by coronavirus coming into the United States from Wuhan. The screenings are taking place at airports in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles. The CDC said it is monitoring coronavirus and the risk for spreading into the U.S.

Glatter, however, said perspective is important.

"It’s more likely that you would encounter the flu compared to the coronavirus," Glatter said. "It’s the flu and measles which pose a greater threat to the global community at this time."

===================================================

So, like I said, the medical professionals in America at the time were downplaying the likelihood of it exploding here like it had in other regions. Physicians and scientists altered and changed what they were saying as they learned more about the virus. It was after all a novel or new virus. The nature of it, and the possible public safety risk was being compared to SARS and other outbreaks of disease.

So, will double down on Americans being rightfully skeptical about early reports and what we were being told.

yeah those guys work off of data.

my sole reason for being concerned was that there was a highly contagious virus going around that had no vaccine or treatment available for it. yeah I posted that article but that didn't stop me from buying extra gloves, disinfectant wipes , alcohol and an N95 mask in early february. People got to use their common sense cause when authorities were telling people they didn't need masks and a lot of people followed that terrible advice. any mask is better than no mask for the simple fact that people can prevent spreading the virus to others.

Sorry to hear about your friend but...

Was your friend an athlete, worked out, was he a smoker, drinker, overweight, health conditions?
Yo just to follow up on your question with another question...

But do your family members love you, or do they do they finish their statement with "..deep down he can be a good guy" when people ask them how you're doing these days?

damn near 1 million cases in the US alone

whats sad is, it seems like countries are racing to make the first vaccine and then for it to be sold to others ,instead of working together

thats the sad bit

all a money game once you start to bury the dead
