We are trying to limit viral transferal, even via other objects, and as such It doesn't matter whether 1 million people have used the pump as long as you clean your hands properly. Using the pump is not quite the same as interacting directly with people, so it's not fair to imply that they are similar.
When you wash your hands you you have to do so in a manner which assumes that you have come into contact with a contaminated surface or matter.
Additionally or alternatively as
@eXodus pointed out, use gloves.
And like I said above the table does not specify "hot food only".
Maybe they mean just the act of "getting" rather than "consuming". That would make more sense.
