I don't believe China's number but look at all the shyt they do to combat it and this may explain why they may not have as high a number you'd expect given the population size.
I think skepticism of china is justified mostly but I think part of the reaction here in the states is this stubborn holding on to "American Exceptionalism" and we figure if we are handling this so shytty, then other countries, especially those we view as inferior, should be doing way worse and if they aren't, then they are lying.

Considering Trump blames Obama for not having tests for a disease that didn't exist during his presidency I'm ignoring what he has to say but are actual infectious disease experts laying blame at their hands?

It's funny because my whole life I've been told the US has the most superior intelligence (they did warn about this in Nov) and all this jazz. Yet now we needed the WHO to escalate this for us to take it seriously

Breh we never relied on WHO for shyt like that due to politics. Our government has always protected us. We fund WHO to protect us from foreign diseases. Not for Intel. Trump knew in November. He coukd have summoned the WHO and be firm with them. He coukd have increased the pressure. He did not. He even ignored all warnings and classified info. Then he went out if his way to congratulate China, give China our PPE stockpile and call the thing a HOAX.

We understand that the 28-year-old nurse underwent an emergency caesarean to deliver and save her baby daughter.
The little girl is understood to be alive and being cared for. But it’s not clear if she has tested positive for the disease.
Colleagues of the woman said she was “a fabulous nurse, and a great example of what we stand for”.
And the Trust’s chief executive described her as a “wonderful young woman who made a huge contribution”.
In an internal email to staff, he explained the decision to perform an emergency cesarean was taken after the woman’s condition deteriorated. Doctors initially thought she was showing signs of improving afterwards, but her symptoms got worse again and she passed away on Sunday.
But he said the survival of her baby daughter was a “beacon of light at this very dark time”.
