The death rate isn't 37% it likely isn't even the 5% advertised. The 5% is just the percentage of the people who seek medical attention and how many of those die. We won't know the true death rate because many people don't seek medical attention and some of them die at home having never been diagnosed. Odds are it's much lower than even 5% though.

That’s not how you get the death rate. The death rate is deaths vs all cases, not just “outcome” cases. Most people aren’t even being admitted to hospitals after testing positive, let alone getting retested...then there are people who never get tested at all, which means it’s lower than 5%

I don't disagree....not sure why you typed all that. My point was a year is too long, but you can't just go from distancing to back to business without a plan. Everything Trump talked about threw the onus back on the governors. Sure, Idaho and Vermont could theoretically open next week without any noticeable issue. There is no mechanism to put folks at peace about going out in the public like we did a few months ago. Yeah, distancing was to "flatten the curve", but that was to keep mufukkas from getting sick. shyt, we still don't know how many people have/had the shyt in the US.

But they are still mandating social distancing, though. People are going to get sick regardless. The economy still has to go on, though. So it's a fine line to walk. Should open up in the next 15-30 days. Get the testing ramped up in that time.

I think your math is a bit off breh. That should be around 5% and that number would be lower if we did more testing due to those that are asymptomatic.
