average rent for a 1 bedroom is 3400?
sounds like a much needed correction
Ehh thats more for downtown/midtown manhattan and the western part of brooklyn. Im paying 1500 for a 1 bedroom in the bx on the northen part of the grand concourse. Which i do know its still a lot compared to other states but from what i hear you get more income in NY than other states where you dont make as much money
It is defitnitly still high but that $3500 price tag is usually for the "hipster" and gentifried neighborhoods in nyc. The ridiculous part is that i guarantee my apartment on the concourse is way more spacious and modern looking than what jared from wisconsin is paying in his double the price apartment in a shytty building thats most likely owned by a hasidic jew in brooklyn. Majority of those overpriced apartments still have the physical heaters, shytty floors, old stoves etc and all inside a deteriorating old building. But they love that gentrified brooklyn experience
And for me personally, my job doesnt really exist or flourish in other states the way it does here in the city. I been doing it for 12 years so if i move to another state i would have to start fresh with only a GED and one job experience on my resume which i dont think would be good for me. Plus not to tote my own horn but im at good at what i do and before covid, my reputation in the city in the circles that i was in was only going up and i was just about to level up but my entire industry is shutdown to at least mid august-september
So for me personally i feel like i have to live here until my bank account is large enough for a fresh start or i hit the lotto or someshyt
