My child will be doing distance learning.

He usually rides a bus to school. If we all remember when we were in school it was 2 (maybe 3) to a seat when we were in the bus....i dont see my county hiring more drivers and getting more buses (+gas) to have these kids every other seat on the bus.

Remember changing classes in HS and how packed those hallways were? No social distancing at all. Lockers were hard to come by, now they want you to be 6 ft apart?

Using the same desks (and sometimes books) that kids used 5 mins ago...teachers ain't disinfecting 25 books and desks in 5 mins....

Who's disinfecting the bathrooms? Are they supposed to sit 6 ft apart at lunch time? (That's the highlight of HS second to hallway fukkery).

Dont forget the bad ass kids who will lick every locker and handle because they ain't got no home training...just to infect everyone.

Long story short, my kid is staying at home. More work for me but oh well.

One of my employees just tested positive

Was hyped out about going to a family outing a few weeks back. I warned her but she ain’t listen. :mjpls:

Memphis/Shelby County doesn’t want jobs to keep employees out for too long while waiting for the results to come in. So don’t be surprised if they ask/let exposed employees come back before their tests results are given.

My moms HR manager was legit begging one of their employees to come back to work yesterday eventhough her results weren’t back yet and she is in the same household with her grandson who tested positive. It’s bullshyt and wreckless.

Shelby County teachers rally in support after superintendent considers keeping schools closed

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby County Schools Superintendent Dr. Joris Ray got a strong show of support Tuesday after saying he’d consider keeping schools closed if coronavirus cases continue to rise.

Dozens of teachers stood outside SCS offices Tuesday afternoon holding signs in support of Ray and virtual classrooms.

“Stand with Ray. When he says he won’t go back until it’s safe, believe him,” teacher Laura Braytendah said.

Classes were originally supposed to resume August 10, but the date has been pushed back to August 31. Ray said that could change if there’s a sudden uptick in coronavirus cases.

“We’re going to follow science, and we’re going to do what’s best for our students. No one’s going to force me to open schools if they’re unsafe,” he said during an appearance on CNN.

Instead, Ray said all students would attend classes online, as 77% of parents are currently opting for their children to do.

“What good is an education if you’re dead? What good is a teacher if they’re dead? How can we do our job if we got one foot in the grave and we’re on a ventilator?” said Will Kelley, a Kirby High School teacher.

The teachers who gathered Tuesday were part of a group called Memphis/Shelby County United. It’s calling for all classes to take place online until Tennessee goes 14 days without adding any new coronavirus cases. The state added more than 2,000 cases Tuesday.

“I’m not putting myself at risk,” Braytendah said. “I’m not putting my colleagues at risk. I’m not putting my kids at risk, and I will refuse to return in the fall if we do not go to a fully virtual platform.”

Ray hasn’t yet laid out the specific criteria he would need to see to keep schools closed past the August 31 start date.

He’s really the only Superintendent in the surrounding area who seems to genuinely care about the well being of the teachers and students. The majority of schools here insist on starting at the usually school date or delaying for only just a few days eventhough the numbers say otherwise.

I think they will end up going fully virtual for at least the semester or the entire year. The numbers here just aren’t going down and the testing is at its capacity.

wow I didn’t know they were doing it like that. I’m
Thinking of getting tested just to be safe although we wear masks.

i will give my employer props because they aren’t going for that shyt. You have to have tested negative to come back and even then they are taking temps when you return.

we’ve had one manager out for over two weeks because his results haven’t came back yet and they won’t let him work.

A lot of companies are like that out of lawsuit fears, but her boss doesn’t give a fukk unfortunately. I’m worried that will all change if they pass the lawsuit that gives companies, businesses and other establishments immunity from COVID-19 lawsuits.

They don’t want people to get tested unless they are showing symptoms or exposed to someone who has it. I’d still get the test though just to be on the safe side.

My Knucklehead ass cousin give my grandaunt and grand uncle the virus as well as several other nieces and nephews. When this virus first came about I told him that if he is going to continue fukking around he need to find a place to stay that has none of our family members live with him. I also told him that if they get infected because of his dumb ass, I was going to fukk him up, but he's been crying non-stop every since they've been in the hospital. My old folks are warm and welcoming so they let him stay with them. Nobody is allowed to see any of them I've been trying my hardest to not let this effect me. I already know a couple of people who died with this virus, it's very serious. At this point it's not about yourself, but it's about everyone you come in contact with.
damn.. is it fukked up that i think you should still beat his muthafukin ass?

Let him live with his guilt.
