That distance would be enough most of the time but in some cases, that's useless. If you're indoor, in a closed space (elevator, car etc) with bad airflow, 6ft would mean nothing because the virus will linger in the air anyway. And by lingering like that the viral load will rise increasing the virus exposure and therefore contamination.
That's why the recommandation is 6ft + mask.
I'm glad I moved, used to be on the 7th floor and that muthafukkin elevator going off all day. Used to only ride it alone and still try to hold my breath. 2nd floor living now :ahh:

Georgia high school shuts down, 900 students and teachers in district quarantining

A Georgia school district has told more than 900 people to quarantine and closed a high school for at least two weeks because 59 students and staff have contracted coronavirus.

Cherokee County School District, about 40 miles north of downtown Atlanta, shut down one of its three high schools following class Tuesday. Etowah High will remain closed until Aug. 31 at the earliest, according to an update from the district superintendent.

Since Cherokee County schools began the academic year on Aug. 3, 12 students and two teachers at Etowah have tested positive for COVID-19, according to district self-reported data. Almost 300 people at the school have been instructed to quarantine.

Cherokee County schools, and specifically Etowah High, have already made headlines since reopening, with a second-grade girl in the district testing positive for the virus one day after returning and Etowah students posing for non-social-distanced, unmasked group senior pictures.

The district offered parents and children the option of remote or in-person learning this year, but 30,000 of the district’s 42,000 kids showed up in person, according to Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB. Now, 925 more people have been forced to take the remote learning option.

Etowah High is also waiting on results from 15 more coronavirus tests, and superintendent Brian Hightower said that if those tests come back positive, the quarantine numbers will skyrocket.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, meanwhile, said Monday that school reopenings in the state were going well. :mjtf:

Etowah High is at least the second high school in the state to shut down, following the closing of North Paulding High School. North Paulding, another large school north of Atlanta, was seen packed with students in viral photos last week and has reported nine coronavirus cases.

More than 4,300 people in Georgia, and more than 160,000 nationwide, have died from COVID-19.

Here is the depressing reality we will have in the next couple of weeks and again, I always preface saying shyt like this I'm not being a fearmonger or gloom and doomer, just realistic, but we are about to have several stories almost every week if not every day or every other day like this

"Today this teacher died of COVID 19" and maybe to a lesser extent "A student from abc school died today".

would rather hundreds of cases a day vs thousands here in the states.
staying home sucks. but these lax stages the states have are useless because its business as usual minus going into the office. people still going out to eat, going to the gym, going to weddings, going on vacation to states that are in even worse shape and bring that shyt back home or to that state.

while there is some political clout chasing going on in some places because of this. the political incompetance is much worse!

So many diseases that kill humans regularly don't have vaccines, why would covid be different?

because other diseases don’t destroy the economy the way this one has. That reason alone is why they will eventually create a vaccine for it. This isn’t something we can just live with and the world keeps on turning like the flu.

I’d be surprised if we don’t have a vaccine announced by the end of the year.

You act as if the need for some equates to the ability of man to address that need.

Just because there is a need for a vaccine, it doesn’t mean they will be successful in developing a safe and efficacious one. Stop speaking in absolutes like you’re a god or something. That shyt sounds ridiculous. Just because the economy is damaged, we will definitely have a working vaccine? Yeah right.

They are trying, but still learning on a daily basis. There will be a lot of bumps in the road and readjustments that need to be made. All we can do is hope. Most experts believe that we won’t have one ready this year.

Don't be naive, there are like 30 different vaccines in human trials. We have the ability to do virtually anything if its profitable enough. Get off youtube and goofy blogs that tell you we will be living with this for 10 years....It's not happening.

We've never seen a race to create a vaccine like this in human history. Literally the entire world is working on it. It's not a matter of if we have a vaccine, it's when.

You’re the naive one. Sure we will see vaccines brought to market.

Will they work? That’s the question.

Info from Dr. Osterholm (not a goofy blog by the way)

Dr. Osterholm: Americans will be living with the coronavirus for decades

Vaccines are not to be viewed as off and on switches.

I believe that new therapeutics rather than vaccines will help our situation considerably.

If we're to follow your logic, then there might be more money in keeping any cure or vaccine from working. Amazon itself is worth more money than a lot of these countries combined and they are thriving. Companies like Salesforce are throughout. Drug research and manufacturing are getting huge money. The Chinese are gaining soft power at an unprecedented rate. If you think big pharma is above that, think again. If anything history suggests a lot of pushback.

Hell you are assuming there will be no consequence to the huge population of anti-vax movement.

I wouldn't assume anything at this point. Hopefully we eventually get there, but I feel like telling on the usual solutions ain't gonna work this time.
