Nah. My info is correct. The J&J vaccine is still good because it offers good efficacy and prevents serious complications from the disease if it is still contracted.

If you are comparing it with Pfizer and Moderna, the trial results for those show a higher level of efficacy. Bottom line. You and someone else cited the different study populations and times which led to the overall 66% efficacy in preventing contraction of COVID. This is true. But when you break out the numbers geographically, the efficacy only improved to 72% for subjects in the US, which is data that is not skewed by the variants.

Pfizer and Moderna trials were earlier, but the 94% prevention of contraction is still relevant. The new real world data for Pfizer and Moderna support this fact by showing 90% efficacy in preventing COVID, which means performance isn’t really hurt by current conditions in the US. These are great results for them.

At the end of the day, according to the data, Pfizer and Moderna have data to show it’s more effective than J&J in preventing it. You’re probably looking at approximately 90% vs around 70%. J&J is still going to do a good job at protecting folks from catching it. They are also touting the reduction of serious illness, which is also important, but J&J is also marketing their ass off to spin those overall efficacy numbers, which they did NOT expect.
Johnson and Johnson was tested under different circumstances in different countries at a different time than Pfizer and Moderna. It’s not a direct comparison to begin with.

Moderna was completely done in the US and Pfizer was mostly in the US both in the summer. J&J was done in the winter just ended recently and was done in places with known variants circulating that Pfizer and Moderna’s trials didn’t have to deal with.

Interesting that the Moderna and biontech sequences are more similar to each other than they are to the wild type. Guessing they covered the critical amino acids that ultimately determine how the spike protien folds.
