My question is this; what happened to the supposed better treatments for COVID? Before the vaccine rollout experts were saying that doctors had become much better with treating/managing the disease. Ventilators were used sparingly compared to the beginning of the pandemic. Now I'm seeing them back in the news more and more with the predictable results; death. And much quicker too. People are being put on vents and dying within hours. Whatever you believe about the vaccine, if you do end up in the hospital try to remain off the ventilator as long as possible. If I ended up in such a situation I'd have to give it serious thought whether or not to be intubated or have my own body and the vaccine try to battle the virus to the death, literally. I mean when you're short ICU beds putting people on vents does seem to clear out those beds a lot faster than letting people fight it out for weeks as they slowly recover.

We definitely need more treatments and prophylactics. I made a thread on one such at home treatment earlier:
Revolutionary Canadian Covid-19 nasal spray about to crush buildings

Hospitals have gotten better with treatment, though. I know from family that they will give you antivirals that will stop the worst of it and send you on your way if your case isn't too severe.
