The linked study from the article followed 215 households that had known cases and performed pcr testing on for everyone within their households for 10 days straight.

So is your hang up that the study didn't do contact tracing that included a major super spreader event? In any case they actually can perform contact tracing with major spreading events and they did this for the Sturgis event last year.

And it's funny that you bring up the Massachusetts event because that was actually an incomplete study. Usually Portsmouth Massachusetts has a population of 3000 but for a week in July the population balloons to 60,000 due to bear week. The story that came out of that major event only mentioned residents of Portsmouth that tested positive so it didn't give you a true picture of the spread event in the first place.

My hang up on the study in the original article was I didn't actually see the study. There was no info on the link I saw on the actual study and how they came to that conclusion.

As far as Lollapalooza. I have questions about how strong that data is. Most covid cases never get contract traced, most ppl don't respond to contact tracers. It relies on a lot of out of state data and out of state health dept's to actually report that to Chicago, and also relies on people who attended and testing positive actually reporting that they attended Lollapalooza. It was also well documented that a lot of fake vax cards were being sold so we have no clue how many were actually vaxed.

THAT BEING SAID, it's obviously a good look that from what they have data on, few confirmed cases came out of it. It's a good sign and I hope it's a sign of things to come. Here in Los Angeles it's spreading more rapidly in higher vaxed areas. Again - hospitalizations are DOWN, but the spread continues regardless. I don't believe vaxing alone ends this. I have said from the start more prophylactic protocols need to be pushed and MASKS need to be mandatory indoors.

real talk, I went to some stores today like half the people weren't wearing masks
:mindblown:

the casual public thinks getting vaxxed makes them totally immune

and it's like they're not listening to the Covid information, like wear a mask whether you're vaxxed or not

Covid is gonna be around for a very long time because of both sides, the pro vaxxers and the anti vaxxers
I got outside and I am the only a$$hole out there with a mask. Come Fall shyt is going to get bad again

Really weird how people are scared of the vaccine moreso than the virus.

Sorta like being scared of using fire extinguishers rather than a fire consuming your house.
Propaganda, plain and simple. Add to that the fact most the world doesn’t have enough of this vaccine and if you really think about it this shyt is spooky.

I think it just simply boils down to the fact a lot people just simply aren’t comfortable with getting the vaccine at this time. It also doesn’t help that the people whom aren’t vaccinated are getting bullied, made to feel shame, being told that there is no empathy for them. The reality is that this isn’t going to make them get the vaccine any faster.

At the end of the day, everyone wants to get back to normal. To be worry free and not having to wear masks and for Covid to be completely gone. This isn’t going to happen overnight unfortunately. We have a long road ahead of us. The best we can do is to have common sense about this whether you’re vaccinated or unvaccinated.

FLORIDA: RECORD COVID DEATHS, 1486 IN JUST ONE WEEK

FLORIDA: RECORD COVID DEATHS, 1486 IN JUST ONE WEEK

August 22, 2021

HHS: 280 DIE SATURDAY IN FLORIDA HOSPITALS FROM COVID.
FLORIDA HAS NEVER RECORDED SO MANY DEATHS, INFECTIONS.
MORE THAN THREE MILLION INFECTED IN STATE.

BY: COVID DESK | BocaNewsNow.com

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Researchers at Johns Hopkins University, utilizing data from the CDC, say that Florida just logged its single deadliest week for COVID-19 in the history of the pandemic.

According to the data, 1,486 people in Florida died from COVID-19 during the week ending Friday, August 20th. The cumulative COVID-19 infection count is now an unfathomable 3,040,590.

On Saturday, 280 people died from COVID-19 in a Florida hospital.

The United States Department of Health and Human Services reported Sunday morning that 2245 adults were newly hospitalized on Saturday for COVID-19. The total of adults now in a Florida hospital for COVID-19 is 17,040.

HHS says that 100 children under age 18 were admitted on Saturday for COVID-19. A total of 213 children under 18 are now listed as hospital “in-patients” for COVID-19 treatment.

At least 3,558 Florida COVID-19 patients are so ill from COVID-19, they are in a Florida intensive care unit. That represents more than half of all ICU patients.

Of the roughly 260 Florida hospitals reporting data to the federal government, 49 are experiencing a critical staffing shortage. 52 expect to experience a critical staffing shortage within the next week.

Hospitals in Palm Beach County, starting Monday, are required by County Executive Order to report daily statistics including COVID-19 patient loads, ICU census, and the number of available beds.

1. are there any reasons at all why some people in society might not trust their society's (nominated, hierarchical) authority figures?

2. are there any reasons at all from those in "1." that might actually be legitimate?

simpe Y/N's will do.

#coli-answers or part-answers will not.

No :yeshrug:

Hell No :hhh:

You’re siding with right wing yahoo’s who historically are almost always on the wrong side of things, ignoring the majority of doctor and scientist who actually are trained on the science of the vaccine to support anecdotal experts, AND the fact that evidence shows that over 95% of people who are still dying from this are unvaccinated.

The only tiniest excuse non-Vaxxers have is that the level and quality of messaging to tell them their opinion and fear is valid is at the level of propaganda. Social media aka the propaganda machine and right wing media that is also a very strong propaganda machine have created enough messaging around this issue to makes people feel self righteousness towards their opinions even when they are wrong and uncorroborated.

^Propaganda spread by government officials who do want us dead

^Science, but peep who they want everyone to believe is guilty of spreading this.

This is the type of messaging needed. There use to be a law that required both sides to debate a issue on TV and while it wasn’t perfect it would help cut down on the misinformation. Right now America is basically misinformed on everything because there are too many pseudo experts.
