You know the funny thing about these variants is that if EVERYONE in the US was vaccinated, it wouldn't matter because the mutations are coming from different continents. And they are proving the vaccine to be no where near as effective as previously thought.

Makes you wonder why we won't give our excess amount of vaccines to other countries like India a Peru. If we did, maybe this sort of issue wouldn't be a problem in the first place.

And the US has yet to shut down its own airlines, although I'm not necessarily FOR that option.

This was bound to happen. Coronaviruses are some of the most rapidly evolving and adaptable viruses. There's a reason why couldn't come up with a common cold (a coronavirus) vaccine and not for the lack of trying.

The only sane and logical response.

It was talked about in depth last year before the vaccines. RNA viruses mutate frequently, it's taken humankind literally millions of years to build up some kind of natural defense against them. We're mostly prone to get sick from the most aggressive mutation of the cold and flu any given year. This is a brand new virus, with only one year in? As fast as they had a vax, its inevitable that a more aggressive variant would probably make it obsolete.
