I'm not sure how much of a hurry they're gonna be to do that if he's playing as well as he is. A year ago, sure, but the price went up for him.

I think CP3 is a perfect 'sell high' candidate for the Thunder. He had a great season and stayed relatively healthy.

OKC is a nice story this year but let's be honest - the next OKC team that seriously competes for a championship will not have Chris Paul on it. Does it make sense to keep him, win 45-50 games a year, lose in the first or second round for the next couple seasons then watch Paul leave for nothing?

His best value to OKC was this year, tutoring the young guys and as a trade chip in the offseason.

I wish Pat could get him in Miami without giving up to much young talent though i don't know if that would take them out of the Giannis running or not. A big 3 of Paul Butler and Bam would be formidable in the East especially if they could keep either Herro Nunn or Robinson. In New York he just makes them somewhat relevant again for a while but does it really give him a legit chance at that ring he desires and deserves so much?

It ultimately depends on how much of a rush CP3 is in, assuming he still cares about winning a championship.

At this stage he is optimal as your 3rd best player on a title contender. But of course that contract is 1st and 2nd best player money... and he's too injury-prone to be that.

So if he's being pragmatic, he'll bullshyt around for 2 years to collect the 80 million owed, and then hop on a title contender in that slightly flabby "JKidd with Dallas" role.

If he's in a greater rush, he'll have to consider declining that 40mil player option.. which i don't see happening.

I can't figure a deal that puts him on a contender. He already went on the record saying he's not waiving his 44M option for the 21-22 season.
