because that was the pinnacle

as great as the 70s was...it sounds old because there were still improvements that could be made
we have not topped the 90s...it was a mixture of musical and technological growth that i'm not sure how it's even possible to surpass

You can thank sampling & going digital for that

The '70s stuff 'sounds old' due to the fact a band was playing instruments through the older analog equipment at the time (mics, etc) & writing the track in a different style (Funk, Disco, Jazz Fusion, long intro, breaks, extended verses), as opposed to the Hip-hop/R&B get to the hook quickly style

I remember having a convo with someone & saying it's funny how songs from our era are still on radio playlists... meanwhile growing up, they didn't throw a song +30 plus years old on modern playlists...you had to turn to the AM stations for that

Stagnation 😞

70s>>>90s

The "Musicianry" (not a word) was peak in 70s but I feel 90s was the perfect sonic peak where soul still remained + technical capabilities + passion and not pure microwave trend chasing.

2000s is actually some of my least fav culturally even though those were my formative years.
