70s>>>90s

The "Musicianry" (not a word) was peak in 70s but I feel 90s was the perfect sonic peak where soul still remained + technical capabilities + passion and not pure microwave trend chasing.

2000s is actually some of my least fav culturally even though those were my formative years.

70s>>80s>>>>>>>>90s

Facts

The 70’s are the real golden years

I'm glad to see other people recognizing the 70s as peak musicianship. Black groups were making albums with a whole ass brass section. They weren't gonna waste money on a bum who couldn't sing with all of those studio musicians on the payroll.

Makes me sad honestly that the band concept is a lost art. It's one reason I respect Salsa as they kept that shyt alive and the bands are multi generational so the culture remains in tact

The music is incredible. But to say it sounds 'new' is disrespectful to it. It shows and reflects a different time and should be appreciated as such. :banderas:

the internet
it doesnt sound new...
you (us) are just old
thought about the subject some more.

Its actually crazy to say the 90s were the peak of R&B/Black music :heh:

Nobody in the 90s is touching James Brown, Bootsy, Earth Wind & Fire, GAP Band, Miles Davis etc...
I could go on and on.

You can have an argument for it being peak Rap/Hip Hop but def not any other genre R&B

OP is suffering from a generation bias

Real engineers and musicians were used in the productions and with improvements in tech, 90s music still sounds fresh.

Also projects had a cohesive sound and it was a true investment in an artist..

Unlike today we have over processed crap...
