The "Musicianry" (not a word) was peak in 70s but I feel 90s was the perfect sonic peak where soul still remained + technical capabilities + passion and not pure microwave trend chasing.
2000s is actually some of my least fav culturally even though those were my formative years.

The 70’s are the real golden years
I'm glad to see other people recognizing the 70s as peak musicianship. Black groups were making albums with a whole ass brass section. They weren't gonna waste money on a bum who couldn't sing with all of those studio musicians on the payroll.
