I don’t think it’s (critical thinking) become undervalued or even discouraged. I think the real problem is people can’t tell between bad ideas and good ones anymore because we’re experiencing hyper-zation of everything; information flow, capitalistic principles, etc. it’s when the flow of everything is too fast or swift to follow. It’s more like we’ll look back on things and realise later what the concrete effect was of all those elements working together at one moment. I doubt it’ll be good, it’ll lead to moral decay and breakdown of societal values once held.
It already has on the base level, capitalism and competition already bring out the worse in people and place people in many undesirable positions they can’t escape because of the moral decay everyone else around them is suffering. but soon it won’t matter even for appearance sake and a lot of people won’t “pretend” in a sense anymore. Americans like to think they can air out their laundry without experiencing any real backlash, that the process itself is cleansing, but it’s more revealing than solving deeply rooted issues...
