Crazy how the Auto industry finessed Americans into buying SUV's.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
When most people don't need them. Chevy and Ford only have 1 actual car on the website. Meanwhile gas hasn't been under $3.00 since 2019. The oil/gas lobby has helped prevent EV charging infrastructure which has allowed other countries to lap us, even the the US spearheaded the EV movement. Looking out my window at work and all i see is 90% trucks or SUV's. :mindblown:

not me. I have never owned an SUV in my life.

there's was ever only 4 people in my family max, and there was never an issue getting the 4 of us in a regular car.

SUV's have worse fuel economy and cost significantly more. auto manufacturers love them because they have a much higher profit margin than a regular sedan.

I don't see myself ever getting an SUV personally.

I hate the vehicle culture in North America.

They say they pivoted towards SUVs because that’s what the consumer wants. Duh if that’s all you’re building then that’s all people will buy.

I envy Europe and Japan. So many different configurations, wagons, diesels, and they are still making vehicles with manual transmissions.

ive heard more the a few people always say "They prefer seeing above other cars" as the main reason for a SUV

:yeshrug: when i mention buying just a truck they say they need the seating/cargo space. Vans always considered unattractive for one reason or another

ive always preferred sedans/coupes

Not getting an SUV frfr.

In Texas it's like 90% of cars are trucks or SUVS.

Soccer mom's = SUV unless they're Mexican. Then they drive hubby F350.

White guy that makes $$$ but likes to fish, hunt and has MAGA tendencies = truck with a clean azz bed

Redneck = truck

White guy that makes $$$ but doesn't try to front like he's a survivalist = nice/fancy SUV

Mexican = truck if he's grown; Mustang/Charger that's tricked out for street racing in Garland.

White college grad female = SUV

Only people driving sedans are old white men, brehs and sistas. Old white men love the same big azz Buick/Caddy sedans that ol skool brehs do.

Asians never drive anything domestic unless it's Tesla.

They roomy, provide more passenger and cargo space, and they are more sporty looking than a truck or minivan.

The prices on those SUVs and trucks are getting outrageous though. Little old stripped down barebones trims costing 60K plus now. You want the upper trim, you paying around 80K to 100K or more. A fully loaded Chevy Suburban should not be costing 100K, which is what they cost now, that’s laughable.

That is not sustainable pricing for average working people. These financial institutions have gotten cute trying to stretch out loans 7-8 years now to finance people who really can’t afford them.

One thing people don't realize is how much oil is used for the pharmaceutical industry.

Petroleum and its derivatives, known as petrochemicals, are crucial in the pharmaceutical industry. They serve as a feedstock for producing many medicines, including pain relievers, antibiotics, and antihistamines. Additionally, petrochemicals are used to create various medical products like syringes, intravenous tubing, and pill capsules.

If you stop production of oil you kill a lot of the pharmaceuticals people use. That's why it hasn't stopped.

I actually want a van. Grew up with my parents having conversion vans. Unparalleled for comfort and room.
