SUV & truck prices are ridiculous.
For a brand new pickup truck with a V8, the average price has to be about 75k. These are basically "luxury" vehicles with all the unnecessary bells & whistles.
And you are gonna be paying 6 figures for a brand new High Country trim Suburban. And I want one
No matter how much SUVs and pickups "hold their value"(I hate when ppl say that because no vehicle truly holds their value), they are still depreciating assets. But even still, you will still pay a grip for one with 100k miles, so they don't depreciate as fast as other vehicles, I'll give them that

I did it because I needed more room to pack shyt. The fact that I can put my back seats down and make more room in my 2019 Cherokee is a game changer. I was tired of having to pack out my cars and not having enough roomI mean you dont HAVE to buy the SUV...if the car aint sexy to your personal tastes why waste the money. some people buy SUV's for different reasons...
people fell for the marketing. you got grown men with no kids buying family vans. While jeering a dudes with a truck saying what you need a truck bed for?
A truck is far more useful than a third row of seats you never use. Most people just put the back seat down anyway. so they use the suv like a truck bed.
Trucks have gotten insanely big though. People are dropping 70K on a big ass truck that they have to keep parked outside 24/7 because it can't fit in their garage. And spent all winter scraping ice off the shield that they have to use a ladder to reach. What for?
I like parking my truck in the garage.
My next vehicle will probably be a ford maverick. or any small electric truck
This is incredibly depressing.
My cousin wanted an SUV but all he could get at the lot was a Chrysler Pacifica van. He went to get it lifted and threw some 26s on it

Work gave me a Volvo EX40, it's only a mid size SUV but I don't know if I can go back to a sedan. The extra ride height and cargo space is a big plus

I think a lot of y'all are missing the point of convivence though. A lot of Americans have 2 to 3 kids. Grocery store, shopping for clothes, after school activities, road trips, buying a few home supplies, etc.

When most people don't need them. Chevy and Ford only have 1 actual car on the website. Meanwhile gas hasn't been under $3.00 since 2019. The oil/gas lobby has helped prevent EV charging infrastructure which has allowed other countries to lap us, even the the US spearheaded the EV movement. Looking out my window at work and all i see is 90% trucks or SUV's.

Most people can more use out of a small truck than a big suv.
Otherwise industries like Uhaul wouldn't have a market
you don't need a van for 2 kids, back in the day it was only the families with 5 or more kids that got vans/suvs/stationwagons

A small truck isn't enough for 2 to 3 kids, where the parents don't know how big they will get. Me and my brother are 6', then there's still my sister, all three of us would't fit in the back seat of a small truck.
I think y'all just don't understand SUVs have so much utility in regards to space for moving people and thing. One and done. No need to upgrade.
