Man, i appreciate this! If you dont mind me asking what's your favorite one. My favorite one I've created so far is "Dr.Gary's Collectables" and "Masta Sound"

I can't really point out a favorite, if for no other reason than there being so many different stylings.
There's stuff that sounds like it came from....
  • (Videogame) Silent hill
  • (Anime) Boogiepop phantom
  • (90's Hip Hop) Tribe called quest
  • etc etc etc
Just finished a 1st draft of the order I like. Currently it is one playlist(34 tracks total) with "3 buckets/arcs".
To be specific when I listen to folks music I create a little mental narrative/story based on the tracks.
Maybe a better way of describing it is a story archetype....
  • beginning
  • introductions
  • middle
  • calm before the storm
  • climax
  • end
  • so on and so forth ...what action fits [insert song]? Now where do I slot it into the overall narrative?
I'm in the middle of doing that with your tracks now.

:jbhmm:
Three good prior examples...
1 of 3. @Unknown Poster shared his 10 track album "Escape From Planet X". After listening to it a couple times and running it through the imagination; below(see link) is the outline I came up with. Though in this case I didn't rearrange anything. I took in the order he laid it out.

2 of 3. I posted a thread appreciating the street fighter 3 soundtrack. In doing so I settled on 12 tracks picked from a mix of different iterations of the game. Then put them in a "narrative order". I.E. this/that track sounds like an intro, boss fight, end credits roll, etc

3 of 3. When I first came to coli I made a thread called "The Coli Arcadium concert: Archetype of an adventure"
In it is 19 tracks that I liked from various games that have been strung together in a "narrative order". Each song representing what's going on at that time in the story. Bullet points where used on each track to clue me in on what was happening at different shifts in each song. In this case I actually came up with a story to place over the archetype.
  1. We are introduced to a Retired solder & army commander living in a fishing village.
  2. He sees lines of war refugees traveling through then grabs his gear after being told of the dethroning attempt in the kingdom.
  3. Soldier travels the countryside road via horse till the treeline where he enters the woods on foot.
  4. He makes his way through the woods and mountains till he sees the stone bridge leading to the cave temple gate as sun sets.
  5. Entering the gate people are heard fleeing. As the noise is approached civilians are seen collapsing a passage to avoid further attack.
  6. The soldier makes his way to the other side of the cavern where he is confronted by his old partner who now heads the army.
  7. After going around the collapsed passage and following the fleeing troops he sees the city by night; on fire while rain falls.
  8. He spots civilians fleeing into a path on the other side of the smoldering city center. They are followed...
  9. The civilians are followed down the hill and through the woods until their trail is lost in the mountains.
  10. He wonders lost in the mountain forest until he finds a cave with the royal family and is told of the failed attempt by the army.
  11. After rest he's taken to the rear exit and is shown the horses. He rides off to join the retaliating forces.
  12. Riding through the kings forces he is cheered by the soldiers till the war front is met. He rides past both forces as they recognize their former commander.
  13. Reaching the kingdoms outpost walls he ascends to the top where he dismounts and enters the commanders chamber/porch overlooking the wall exterior.
  14. He orders the old partner / current commander to stop the mutiny before further tearing the kingdom apart.
  15. The two enter 1 on 1 battle. After killing the old partner the Retired soldier tells onlookers the mutiny is over and descends the stairs.
  16. As he rides back to his retirement home he remembers all the steps along the way in reverse. He arrives back home just as he remembers leaving earlier.

My girl's on her third book while I'm here browsing the coli
:mjcry:

No but for real, I stopped gardening when I moved out of my mom's house because my backyard is tiny now. Been thinking about setting up a home media server and building a new PC. My girl's mom gave me an old fish tank, might even build a Gundam terrarium.

Got Something for yall, hope you enjoy.
( @EnzoG @xCivicx )

So I went down both yall soundcloud accounts then...
  • Favorited all the tracks I liked
  • Added them to two separate corresponding playlists
  • Sequenced each for best listening to highlights of yall work.

In simple terms if you ever hear someone say something to the effect of...
"When was the last time an album was good enough to listened to from beginning to end?".
The way I sequenced the tracks is so it feels natural just sitting down and listening to it all in one go.

NOTE - They are not listed in ranking order I.E. the first 3 tracks are not necessarily may 3 favorites, nor the last 3 my least.
EXAMPLE - the first track is the 1st because it sounds like a good opener and the last because it sounds like a closer. Others sound like interludes, climaxes, ect.

The tricky part was getting tracks that feels like they lead into each other naturally while also making sure the overall project doesn't get monotonous and "samey". @EnzoG I went through hell with about six of your tracks trying to place them. Meaning while I liked them it was a challenge to find other tracks that naturally lead into and follow out of them while keeping the overall structure intact.

I could actually make a far tighter mix if I didn't include everything I liked that yall made.
Maybe take out about 3ish from @xCivicx and 6ish from @EnzoG

REQUEST:
Don't view the playlist on first playthrough listening.
Given you already know your own music the only thing new is...
  • Which tracks I included
  • What sequence I placed them in
Don't spoil the "audio movie" Just press play and Enjoy!

EnzoG Playlist Link (34 tracks | 1:01:50 runtime)
playlists are private but links above are public and should still work
