The thing is, they never do that. Like Cena, they stay trying to make Roman the underdog in feuds.

No, no, no...it doesn't make sense. There is a disconnect in his line of thinking. When Crippple H was going strong in 2000, he had to get that top heel reaction. Even though Steph usually sounded more over. Rock came out to standing ovations and couldn't even get a word out without people chanting his name. That's being a top face people paid to see. This whole justification of "any reaction is a good reaction" is the sell they've been pushing during the whole Cena charade.

Put it like this..when fans turned on Rock at WM 18..they made a BIG DEAL OUT OF THAT REACTION, right? Even though he packed up nearly 70,000 in Toronto...they made a BIG DEAL about it the night before and used it as a passing test to push Hogan to the belt at Backlash. That didn't work. Rock kept filling up arenas and Hogans title reign didnt and ratings fell flat after Rock left after WM 18.

That's why it was Rock vs Lesnar pushed for Summerslam 02 and not Hogan vs Lesnar or Austin vs Lesnar.

Being a draw and being ultra over is different.

For what it's worth, at the house show I went to last night they had Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, Randy Orton, Aj Styles, and John Cena. Everybody got a good reception but when John Cena came out the crowd erupted into a madness unlike what it was for any of the other guys.

Dean wasn't outdrawing him. They were about even. Which, outside of Cena headlining house shows, both the A and B shows do the same numbers before and after the brand split 2.0. Cena and AJ for a brief period are the only guys to move house show numbers. Even Brock doesn't help numbers at house shows.

However, Roman sells a lot more merch than Dean, despite Dean actually having more merch for sale than Roman. Merch numbers are a lot more important today than house numbers, and the top three merch movers are New Day, Cena, Roman, with Dean somewhere in the top 10 but well below anything Roman is moving.

Double Talk Dave said that the A and B shows were drawing about the same with Roman headlining A and Dean headlining B. And it was a disappointment to the company, obviously. Some drew more, some drew less, but it wasn't a DEAN AMBROSE IS A BIGGER DRAW than Roman thing. However, Roman is the 3rd biggest merch mover in the company, and Dean is somewhere at the bottom of the top 10, so Roman is bringing in more money anyway. Ergo more of a draw than ol' noodle arms.
