Good interview and his love for the culture is obvious but it gives insights into why a lot of his new music is stale. He concentrates too much on technical aspects. I would never say that his music was soulful but his old stuff had a personality that a lot of his new stuff doesn't though we saw glimpses of it again on his newest album.

His newest album was definitely a step in the right direction with a good half of those tracks, but the other half of the album was still rappity rap over god awful production

Well put. The whole first few minutes, while interesting to rap nerds like me, just doesn't resonate with most ppl. BUT, it's also why most of the most admired/illest emcees consider him one of the best.

Love the Black Thought nod also cuz everyone knows he's top 5.

Only listened to like 4 minutes of it and all he's talking about is syllables and rhyme schemes, he sounds like that dude that be posting on here. He actually sounds like Cassidy, lol

He needs to expand his palate, rap skill doesn't = rhyming syllables. That was how I saw it too when I was like 17, lol...then I realized that most listeners don't care about or even notice that at all. You should incorporate it here and there if you're a reputable lyricist but there's plenty other things, like wordplay/voice/delivery/flows/subject matter/emotion/etc... that matter just as much as that when it comes to skills. I respect Eminem like crazy and how much he cares about the mechanics of rhyming but he needs to broaden his horizons, it would make him a better MC and a better song maker. Insane wordplay, to me, is like 10x more impressive and requires way more brainpower than internal rhyme patterns and doubles and all that

Small shot at Joe at the end.

Very different from most of Em's interviews, you can tell it was more comfortable for him to talk about the technical aspects of rapping because he was talking to Crooked & not a random media personality

What was the shot?

So Em is never changing his style is what I took from this interview.

this dude is obsessed with bars, flow and vibe be damned.

At the end of the day, Em is just a backpacker who blew and I can’t even be mad about that.

All he needs is musical direction, with the right person to take care of the musicality, all he'd have to do is rap..and he can still rap his ass off.

I say Royce or Kendrick should EP his next project.

I see he gave props to Da Baby :obama:

I appreciate that he is a fan of the music and culture. What’s funny is as many cats that hate him on this board, he would fit perfectly on the coli as far as fandom of this culture.

That’s some real shyt.
