WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A man was sentenced on several charges Wednesday in connection with a string of public sex acts caught on camera last fall, marking an end to a bizarre story that prompted safety concerns near a Northwest high school.
Anthony Roget Hines II was sentenced in DC Superior Court after pleading guilty to five counts of lewd, indecent, or obscene acts and four counts of unlawful entry of private property.
Questions swirled online after one homeowner shared her concerns with DC News Now in September after her SUV was targeted by a man in her alleyway, where he was seen using a cucumber he lodged in the vehicle’s grille in a sex act.
The incident happened in broad daylight, mere yards from Dunbar High School, and was the only known sex act at the time, allegedly involving Hines.
Court documents allege an anonymous tip sent to police identified Hines after the incident near Dunbar High School, saying Hines was the man engaging in the lewd act.
Still photos from surveillance videos were included in the arrest warrant affidavit filed in October, showing a man police believed to be the same person engaging in sex acts at or near private homes and utilizing handrails.
One handrail in question in an alleyway on Q Street Northwest was reportedly targeted twice and is now wrapped in sandpaper.
The police affidavit alleges Hines opened the gate to a home’s private porch and “proceeded to slide up and down on a metal railing shaped like a pinecone while performing sexual acts.”
