Think about if you were raised to believe that you are ugly as hell with a blue t-shirt, aren't employable, and don't deserve love if you wear a blue t-shirt. Just try to think about it... You have been conditioned to think that you are only lovable and handsome in a white t-shirt just like the white boys have.

This conditioning is surreptitious. You don't even know that you are being bombarded with this message on an everyday basis. Explain to me how often you will wear a blue t-shirt. You would put your blue t-shirt in the back of your closet and hide it behind the t-shirt society told you was acceptable.

Now your identity has been shaped. You are handsome if and only if, you wear that white cloak. The women you seek are also conditioned t believe that you are only handsome in your white cloak. Now while wearing your white t-shirt that attracts dirt and showcases your man-t*ts, you see white boys rocking that Blue t-shirt and getting praise for being eccentric and bold. Tell me you wouldn't have the same reaction.

I get that but see @marcuz and @MarsPunka 's posts...I've seen it mentioned here numerous times by black women who unabashedly admit that they wear weaves (and wigs?); that its just a hairstyle/preference and that there's no underlying/latent appropriation or self-hatred involved in doing so...especially in terms of the convenience of not having to deal with their natural hair (which I know takes time and effort). I don't have a dog in this fight and I do understand the hypocrisy behind black beauty on white skin being admired in the media but I still don't see how this specific occurrence is going to oppress black people..therefore I don't see why there is outrage.

Plus white people with afros look dumb af anyway.

Not all black women. Some black women were raised to feel like their natural hair was ugly. Some black women wear it to switch up on hairstyles while others use it for a protective style. There are black women that can't even get jobs because their hair is seen as unprofessional so they wear a weave instead. Black women wear it for various reasons.

Its crazy. And even now, my moms, her sisters, and 90% of her female friends have the worst, most deflated-looking perms/weaves but still hang onto that shyt despite the fact that their daughters are getting bomb-ass, attractive natural or near-natural styles.

Explain this protective style to me please

Natural hair can get damaged if you manipulate it a lot. When you wear a weave your hair underneath is braided up and is protected. Go to youtube or Google and look up "weave protective style". Their are women that swears by it and says weave saved their hair from becoming damaged.
